Hello from Western North Carolina
Hi all,
I raced for about 10 years in Connecticut, before moving to a rural area north of Asheville NC. I loved bike racing, but bike racing didn't really love me.
In 2014 I hit a dog descending down a mountain, and landed on my head. I had a pretty serious injury. After that, I decided that I would take it easy and just ride for pleasure. So now I ride the fabulous car-free roads of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When I'm not on my bike, I am very involved with Hot Doggett, which is a charity ride that raises scholarship money for our poor county. Since the racing calendar is pretty thin around here, a lot of Asheville racers use Hot Doggett as a way to tune up for USAC events. And with chip timing and bottle hand-offs, it has the feel of a race. So I get to stay in touch with the racing community but do something more worthwhile than be a peloton turd, getting pooped out the back.
