Every so often, I have one of those days when I feel like a cycling god. Today was one of them. I don't know if it was the wind, or the bike, or the legs, or getting a good sleep, or what. All I know is that I got PRs on longish segments I've done 100 or more times on Strava, and every time I asked the legs for a little more, they always had it. This would have been the day to try for a PR on Old La Honda, but with Mrs. GeneJockey in SoCal, discretion is the better part of valor. Can't expect her to respond to a Call Of Shame if she's in the OC!
I haven't ridden the Canyon that much this year. Now I wonder why. It's light, comfy, fast, etc. I was going to take the Litespeed, but it's crusted with salt from riding in the heat the week before last.

Was the sail inventory limited by rule? I would have thought you’d carry more than one spin. Maybe two primaries and a chicken chute.
Sucks that you had to turn around, but better to do so where you can reasonably get to a dock.
Really sucks the pounding you took going home.

I was doing so well on the bike today, I think some guy on an old Kestrel accused me of being on an e-bike. It wasn't entirely clear, something about "the bike doing the work", So I dropped him. He'll probably comfort himself with the inaccurate belief that the old fat guy who dropped him was cheating.

Did anybody try to commit vehicular man slaughter?

My wife and I worked in the ceement pond for at least a couple hours this afternoon. We re-potted the centerpiece plant, which included six buckets of soil and two of stone,
re-potted the cycad, moved heavy things around--- things that can only be moved through water, and one thing that even that wouldn't work. We got a 5/4 x 6' board and made a bridge, and then a ramp out of it.* Hard work all of it, but up to our shoulders in comfortable water. We're both resting comfortably and have decided to order out for dinner.
*And realized that's how they built the pyramids.

Last boating movie I saw was "Master And Commander". I'm assuming that, though highly competitive, the race was somewhat less violent.

Thoughts on this tire. Cleaning the cervelo and rear tire looks like it has seen things. Wondering if it would be better not to ride it and just replace it.
