I just picked up a free Nishiki vintage bike from the 70s. It rides great still. My son and I ride together. He has a Schwinn Copeland that rides pretty good as well.
We live in Denver.
I have been riding for 39 years. Almost exclusively free bikes because I've never been rich.
Ive gotten lucky and got some sweet hand me downs along the way. And some crap. Haha

My First Road bike was a 25 y/o Nishiki for $15.00.
It had the original tires and tubes.
Good bike.
