Wow ! Awesome. GCN would call it a "hack"...your bike not only accepts a wider tire but it is also lighter.
Can't wait for your ride reports.

Wish I could be there when the bike collapses and he face plants...entertainment factor easily 10...

Crushing the inside of the chain stay a bit and using a different fork would of been a better way of doing it.Bit late now though.

The solution is to dimple the chainstays (before grinding them away).

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...hey-works.html

This is generally done on steel that reacts fairly well to cold forming.

People don't like cold forming aluminum. Your Tirreno Razza 2.0 lists 7005 aluminum which should be fairly stiff, and probably not great for cold forming.

You are best either using tires that fit your frame, or tracking down a frame that fit your needs.

You may be able to find a good Tricross for not too much. Or hunt for older hybrids that have lots of clearance.

The scariest thing about this post is that people like the OP can vote. And reproduce.

Exactly, please do as Chuck M asks. Coming from heavy industry I know that people are willing to take risks primarily for two reasons: it is human nature to try and be efficient and they don't perceive the risk in the consequences of their actions. Bike Forums can help with that.

Seems to me it'd be better to buy a bike that will allow for the size tires you want.

Or did you get this attitude of making things comply to your wishes as some rebellion to others making you behave in ways you didn't wish?

Even though this is apparently real…I find it just a little too dumb to comment on (aside from this post).

You know you can drop a lot of weight and thereby increase performance if you drill 1-inch diameter holes in the down tube? All the pros used to do that ......

If you're in the US, Poseidon sells the fixed/single speed Tracklocross frameset for $200 with 40c tire clearance. $200 is a drop in the bucket compared to potential medical bills from riding a structurally unsafe bike frame.

Why stop there? I'm drilling holes in my spokes. Planning to use a 1/4" drill bit for maximum weight savings.

Damn, some of yall are kinda mean.
A few points:
1. Im not that dumb. The areas where material was removed mostly affect the horizontal force on the bike, not the vertical where most of the load is. I also attempted to to force it by hand, and both the forks and chainstays are still fairly strong, though the connection between the carbon and aluminum part of the fork only worries me a little.
2. I bet I could drill/grind a lot of material off this bike if I wanted to and still have it be fine to ride, but weight isn't super important to me - a non-racer.
3. I put this bike together piecemeal, through craigslist / stuff I found on the side of the road / some amazon parts. The frame was $40. I think I did pretty good finding a boyd wheelset though.

Its missing the piece that seals the bottom of the headset, so electric tape is used as a weather barrier. It works fine.
