Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You want bad roads come to MI. We have roads that have so much cold patch on them the get washboarded like a gravel road. Our expressways are closed on the weekends for construction. It's almost as if someone lost the recipe for concrete.

I know this is asking a lot, but you could really sweeten the pot if you throw in months of snow and freezing weather.

I spent a long time obsessing over the braking on Mrs. Peel, but apparently I've been using the wrong metric. I've been basing it on the braking from the hoods, but apparently that's Not How It's Done. BITD, you were supposed to brake from the drops. Braking from the drops is pretty good.

Who knew? Well, not me. You learn something new every day.

Spring is in full swing here with trees nearly fully leafed out and the entry drive into Colt State Park blossoming on both sides. Ladies from local garden clubs have been busy planting flowers and shrubs beautifying public spaces. In the past Spring has been just another season but I 'm getting really old now and Spring is more than welcome, it has become necessary.

Good ride. Lots of climbing. Too bad the leader board is not based on altitude gain, or I could be on top more often.

Of the last 30 hours, I spent ten on the road. But I'm currently relaxing comfortably in my hammock, sharing chips with the three dogs.

Finally got a reasonable quote on tree trimming. One more to go, if he shows up. Wednesday a landscaper is coming by to give me an estimate on removing the shrubs and flower beds. Just grass. And a tree. That's all I want.

Ok my mechanic peeps, got one for ya.
2011 Avalanche. The mil light popped a couple days ago. Code p0172 and p0175. Rich banks one and 2. I have it narrowed down to the virtual alcohol sensor...on the engine not behind the wheel.... it's @ 48%. But I've never used e85 in it. It should be @ around 10%. Is there a way to reset this parameter without a scan tool?

I'm fairly certain it's scan tool only. Of course, you can always pull the Keep Alive Memory/Constant B+ fuse to the PCM for a few minutes, and see if that does it.

Or maybe he has another car, and didn't want to waste its gas getting more gas for it. This might actually be really sensible.

Good point!

New hot rod arrived. Weird not having an exhaust or exhaust noise. Wife now has the more manly car in the family.
