I dunno the name of that condition either, but it probably includes my 2 redheaded sisters. They get sunburned just looking out the window, it seems. 🙄😉

Good advice in thread, thanks! In Australia the strength of the sun can be diabolical. 20 minutes is all I can stand in summer before being burned. Even mid-winter sun can burn here in a couple of hours, and I'm only at SoCal latitude, sea level, nowhere near the tropics.

This thing is awesome:
They make a wider one too, but I havent tried it. It does catch the wind a bit on superfast descents. But on balance I way prefer to sunscreening my face.

I've always used a long sleeve shirt (usually a t-shirt since it has lots of stretch to it) and applied sunscreen cream everywhere else. My favorite brand is Neutrogena since it doesn't feel greasy and it comes in non-scented versions. Costs a little more, but well worth it to me.
MAybe to cover your nose, but other than that we used to just use regular sunsceens you could buy in the drugstore. I've used basic brand-name sunsceens while on peaks above 5000m near the equator is South America with no sunburn issues. As for protecting your nose, you could also buy a nose cover that attached to the center of your sunglasses. And for the rest of your body we'd usually be wearing long sleeve tops and pants so direct skin exposure was minimal.

Tuareg, the people of the desert, wear large, loose and baggy cotton shirts and trousers while wrapping their heads multiple times with very long veils.
This is the proper way to protect oneself from harsh sun.

I have not used sun screen in 30 years and I am not dark complected.
I do spend a lot of time outside year round so my exposure is constant, in other works I don't go out in the summer sun after being inside for the last 6 months if I did I would cook just like every one else.
When my skin is looking parched I apply 99% Lily of the Desert aloe vera jelly.
The green aloe skin products actually have very little aloe in them and not very effective IMO. Pure aloe is not green
Pure aloe is the bomb for dry or burned skin. I am 66 don't have never had skin cancer knock on wood. I also doubt I need vitiman D.
The sun is good for you, you are supposed to get sun.
