Absoluteblack and bikingreen chainring reliability?
Hello all, looking for user experience on the 48/32, 46/30, or 48/31 setup.
I had post here about the GRX compatibility sometime ago and was quite excited with its existence... but the combo didnt work on my cx bike. So here we are a year later.
How is the Durability on these chain rings? I see the mounting holes are right on the teeth line, so unexpected breakage is a concern. Has anyone had theirs break? And your reason for picking your brand vs the other?
My current Rear cog is 11-34, front 50/34, yes I am a big dude.
Appreciated

Just curious, but what did you not like about the GRX?

If they look like a reputable company then why the concern about durability.... whatever that means.
If they were breaking left and right they won't have been on the market very long and there'd be a ton of dissatisfied users bashing them in reviews and everywhere possible.
It's not an unusual thing for small rings of any BCD to have holes close to the teeth.

Chainline was concern, and because of the angle it was clipping the front deraileur bracket.
I would have preferred GRX, unless i am missing something.
*i remember now.currently the bike has 23c tire on the trainer, when on the road i have 32c tire, the FD arm was too close to the tire. (band on).

the good you dont usually hear about, the bad you hear all the time. Since there is very little noise about these two items, I thought I'd ask.
But thanks.

Nor for the angle to the front DR which in itself sounds like either something bizarre going on or simply you missed a point about adjusting it when you read the install instructions.

Simply changing rings as your OP here seems to be asking about won't do anything for chain line.

I just recently but 46/30 Bikingreen rings on CX bike.
Not many miles yet, but they seem well made so I expect no problems.
The small ring is tapped for the chainring bolts, making only small holes.
Recommended.

I've been running two of the Bikingreen 110bcd chainring sets on two different cross/gravel bikes with 10sp Campy, 12-30 rear gearing. They shift fine and seem to be of high quality. I'm 215lbs and haven't had any durability issues with them The bolt system is proprietary though, you can't use conventional chainring bolts so no running with different combos. And they only offer 46/30t which is okay but the 46t is a tad big for hilly gravel and the 30t inner is too much of a big drop, messes up my cadence. If they offered a 44/34 combo it'd be perfect. If you need the super low 30t inner on climbs then go for it.

Well since somebody else bumped this old thread
I've been running the 46/30 absolute black rings on my shimano 5800 cranks now for a long time with no issues. Back when I bought them GRX wasn't a thing or I'd would have just went with a GRX 48/31 setup since that would be a better road/gravel compromise not that the 46 really holds me back. In the real world I don't spend very much time pedaling at over 34 mph anyway and that is about were I top out at with the 46.
