I saw a guy at a light with a seat tube campy shifter….
This was on a Bridgestone commuter bike.
I said, "what's that seat tube shifter for, I see you have downtube shifters?"
He said, "its for my generator, for my lights."
Does anybody have this set up? I'd love to see pics of it. And how it works.

Prior to retirement, early 2000's, I had a bike commute of 4+ miles each way to my workplace in Olympia, WA. Rode home for lunch, so = 16 miles daily. 1st two miles was an unlit country road. Very dark and wet. Tried several bikes to find one which did the job without generating guilt for the wear and tear of Winter commutes. 1st was an Expedition Touring. It was pre-wired for BB generator, research indicated Sanyo was OEM, but all I could find was a Soubitez + Halogen headlight.. My anti-French prejudice expected early failure and I later got a Sanyo at a swap meet. Soubitez never failed, still in use today. Manual release mounted on the generator, but failed to hold early on. Fixed it with a small bolt propping in release position, used this way for years until 1 maintenance session when I took all apart, cleaned and lubed everything. Latch is trouble free since. Must have been a perfectly placed install too, as I never had any slippage and hard to imagine worse wet riding conditions. Next bike was a really nice Motobecane Grand Touring, then a Miyata Seven Ten with a Union sidewall generator which also worked, did require a black tape hood on top of headlight to keep glare down. Both setups gave barely adequate light on dark country roads, so I supplemented with 5 watt and 15 watt halogen bar lights powered by rechargeable batteries. They were not used once reaching roads well lit by street lights. Eventually I found a high mileage Centurion Pro Tour, got a used Dyno-Hub, had a wheel built and added a Lumo Tech halogen headlight. That bike became my dedicated rain ride, When weather dried out, I usually rode the Miyata. Here's some pics:

Sanyo, Soubitez and Union all made bottom bracket dynamos at one point or another. I've had several of the Sanyo ones and they were easy to mount up, easy to use, and they all died on me in short order. The bearing in the roller is no good. I have a Soubitez one too but setup is difficult and the switch is inconvenient. The Union one is made to work with a shifter like what OP's descrbing.
