Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was on there earlier and seen an ad, couldn't tell if it was advertising a roadbike or a groupset, so i checked it out and got a chuckle out of the description...

Using high-quality hubs, cassette hubs rely on the card slot stuck flywheel, high strength, strong stability.
High-speed rotation, no bias, precise positioning shift, high-end bike is the first choice.

size: wheel diameter 68cm
The handlebar is 100cm from the ground

I know this is old, but I was reminded of it when GCN bought one from Amazon. It's not as bosuzuku as the one I linked from Wish, but, well... here it is...

Can't say I've looked at bike stuff on Wish but I sure have seen a lot of videos on Youtube calling them out for fake computer parts (substituting crap for known brand names with fake labels, etc). That alone makes me steer well clear of them.

I haven't either, but somehow the stuff pops up time to time.

A family friend recently bought an Amazon "El Cheapo". His bike was stolen and he needed one ASAP. All I can say about it is Caveat Emptor!

The frame on the monster wasn't the issue. Sure, it was made of gas pipe and weighed maybe 10 pounds. I may flinch at the way the dropouts were done, but they are strong enough for him. The components were bottom of the line. But what do you expect at the price point..

It was the quality control on the things connected to the frame that was the issue. Wheels with cup and cone bearings that felt like they were "adjusted" with an air ratchet. The front wheel was visibly out of true. Turns out it was because one spoke nipple was stripped. The list can go on and on. And for those of you who think "Shimano" means quality, either that RD marked Shimano was a fake (very likely) or Shimano make some cheap stamped steel crap RDs for the BSO market.

We got it close enough that he can ride it, but I question the reliability of a bike that ships with a bent wheel..

Shimano has been in the “cheap stamped steel crap RDs for the BSO market” longer than anyone, longer than they’ve made anything nice.

It's got Shimano gears! 👍👍

My 06 TCR Advanced LE has big Shimano stickers on the chainstays, just like a BSO, way to confuse noobs. Should've been Dura-Ace stickers...
