1985 Trek 600
What is the value of a Trek 600? This one seems in pretty good shape, but it does have a couple bigger chips in the paint. Seller says no dents. The things I have noticed that aren't stock so far are the saddle, bar tape, and wheels. This bike has an Alexrims wheelset. According to the catalog it should have Matrix Titan rims. It does have 600 derailleurs and shifters. 531CS tubing. Tires are new Contintental Ultrasport. Says recently tuned up and rides well. Also how does this bike fit into the Trek lineup for 1985? Is it a top tier bike? Catalog says Top-Of-The-Line Sport Performance machine. But how does it compare to the racing models? Its behind the 760 and 770, but what about the 660 and 670? Is the 600 more racing or touring? I'm not sure how they defined the Sport bikes at the time. Is it a very collectible bike? Thanks.

Need to move higher up in Trek's lineup to be collectible. In 1985, models like the 770, or even the 850 and 870 in the MTB lineup are collectible IMO. Better yet, the early 938 Treks with Columbus tubing. and Campy NR components.
Trek reused model numbers, so the earliest 850s were special. Later they were not. I've owned a couple 1984 Trek 850s. Very nice. The 1985 may well be better with the Tange Prestige frame.
Trek catalogs are all on line. The 600 is not the top model. Replace the word Sport with the word Recreational. The money is in the top racing models.
All of this is just my opinion!

There is a Trek website that has all the catalogs online. Trek bicycles have always been confusing to me in this regard.

Yes, among "sport" model Treks, its very nice. A fine bike, head and shoulders above what I rode back in the day. A nice choice for a rider, but not collectible.

I gave my son in law one and he loves it. I would have kept it but it was too small for me. Before I gave it to him, I was offered $350 for it which was not a bad offer but the bike was almost NOS as the original owner got in car accident a month after he bought it. I thought it would be better to just give it to my son in law after he expressed interest in having it . They are very nice upper tier bikes , light and quick . Built with 531c tubing and complete Shimano 600 group. Not shabby at all.
