Pirelli presta valve stuck corrosion
Title says most of it. Decided to try pirelli smartTubes but when bike is ridden in rain the presto valve gets stuck and can’t be unscrewed to top up pressure. How to unstick?

Knew that, stupid autocorrect. Tried with pliers but it twisted the main valve stem. Will try w small vise grips on stem next

Probably would be easiest to just replace the presta core. Get a valve core removal tool to screw the old presta core out and install a new one in its place. You can buy 10 packs of the presta cores on eBay for less than 10$. Might be worth it to have some spares anyway.

Of course. I get valve unstuck w PB Blaster and pliers. First thing on ride today, get flat from massive thorn. Now I get to play w replacing the valve core using replacements ordered (thanks for suggestion) at relative leisure

Corrosion? PB Blaster? My god….I’ve never heard of such a thing in 35 years of cycling through all sorts of weather, including winters in a state that salts the roads. And to consider that Pirelli uses substandard materials in their new, premium TPU tube? I can’t believe that.

Small pliers to unscrew it. In case this may be useful, you do not need to tighten them a lot. They should only be snug.

Just to confirm, I have never had this issue with other tubes such as Bontrager and Continental. I barely shut the valve and did not have the issue w the Pirellis until they got wet. Perhaps another answer is to use the valve caps I normally discard.
