After 23 years, I sure hope Mr Lynskey doesn’t show up and ask for his bike back...

Each Bike Friday comes with a 'plaque' glued onto the frame, listing the original owner's name. As I recall you can customize it, don't think it HAS to show your name. I'm a francophile so added one of my favorite French phrases to mine. I'd include a photo but as I don't yet have 10 posts under my belt the forum won't let me.

My wife and I took a sign painting class a couple months ago. Part of designing the sign is using a vinyl cutter like a Silhouette. You make the design on computer and then the Silhouette cuts the vinyl. Then you stick the vinyl to whatever you want to paint and basically use it as a stencil.

The good news is that my wife has a Silhouette vinyl cutter. I wonder how hard or easy it would be to design a stencil with my name on it, if I wanted to paint my name on my bike. I think it would be fairly easy to do.

I've used name decals from VCGraphix on my bikes and helmets. Nothing wrong with a little personalization.

All the bikes I built have some form of personal ID on them. I started doing this when I was building them for potential sale. I used high quality decals (vinyl transfers).
Most of them have this logo. I think such personal touches make the bike more interesting.

How can I do that?
I got some decals with my name in yellow to match the general color theme of the bike, and my national flag - got them from VeloInk, IIRC - something like $10 for a sheet of 10 decals.

In 1986, Waterford would hand-paint the buyer's name on Paramounts if it was for a Schwinn dealer, as I recall. Painted on the left chainstay.

I used a custom vinyl decal to accomplish the same effect on my Cinelli.
