So, I can buy a pair of boxer briefs but if I do that, I can just as well get a pair of briefs.
But, I will do neither ..... since my bike rides are short and it's only a mild annoyance.

So, if you wore cargo shorts to ride, would you go commando or boxers?
That is the only choice.

Did that guy in the picture drill out his ribcage?

Replace the speedo with running shorts, and the bike with a women's 38 lb. comfort bike, and there I am, making my naked-man reputation all over the neighborhood, while working on my tan, like Zonker Harris.

"That guy"? Are you talking about the pic of Lance Armstrong on the previous page?

I ride casually dressed or well dressed - last weekend a few km from hotel to a wedding at a Scottish castle - all properly attired for the event.
Carhart makes a boxer/brief without fly- like these a lot for these settings in which a little "air space" between saddle and bum is helpful.

Have you measured the impact?

P=FM^2/t. Pendulosity Equals Force*Mass(Squared) Divided by time.

Plenty of brands of athletic shorts out there with liners. The liner needs to be at least boxers length, or it will work like a wire saw on the crease between your leg and your sack.

It is sad that a supposedly grown man need help deciding whether ot not to wear underwear. Truly ridiculous. I picture him sitting in the basement, wearing helmet so as not to hurt himself.

I think it is time to put him to rest. Just ban the guy at this point. No thread he has ever posted is beneficial in any way, except to prove there are people who cannot do anything for themselves out there, and people who simply wish to waste people's time.

Added to the beloved ignore list. I rarely do that, but this guy is an utter and complete golf club.

You won't even buy a piece of underwear to try it but you're starting a thread asking for advice? Why?
Just stop.

This isn't Google.

I wear cargo shorts on 140+ mile rides. I don't think doing so commando is a real option, and I'll leave it to your imagination what the friction would do if you do that for more than a few minutes.

You don't ride enough for much of anything to make any real difference. This post just admitted that.
