FS: 1991 Waterford Paramount, Intense Red, 58cm

SOLD, I'd like to do a local sale on Front Range of Colorado (based in Boulder, but can meet in Denver or similar) as we just had a baby last week and I'd rather not take on the packing and shipping at this time.

S/N: 580DKW B91XXX. Per Waterford (https://waterfordbikes.com/w/culture...amount-dating/) I understand this to mean: 580 – 58cm frame; D – Indicating a longer fork length (range from A-E)?; K – Built for Paramount; W – From the Waterford factory in Wisconsin; B – February; 91 – 1991; XXX – XXX frame scheduled during that month.

No dents I can find, but the bike lived some of its second life as a racy commuter and the paint shows wear and tear from outdoor racks etc. There are quite a few chips (most significant on the NDS downtube) and previous touchups. I considered stripping or blasting and repainting, but there is still quite a bit of the lovely original Intense Red there and figured I would leave it to the new owner to decide. Accordingly, all tubes were just treated internally (and a couple of spots externally) with Evaporust and I’ve also applied Framesaver internally. I've tried to capture this in the pictures, but let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see. I think given the diameter of the tubing (25.6ish top tube/28.8ish down tube including paint), frame size and absence of rifling it is the Columbus SL/SP mix. There is no original tubing decal in sight, but the steerer tube is stamped with the Columbus logo.

New tires, tubes, cables, housing, chain, bar tape.

Build:

Brake levers: Shimano 600

Brake Calipers: Shimano 600 - BR6403

Brake Pads: Shimano 600

Shifter/Lever: Shimano 600 downtube braze-on

FD: Shimano 600 - FD-6400

RD: Shimano 600 - RD-6400

Crankset: Shimano 600 - FC-6400-SG (non-Biopace)

Chainring: Shimano 600, 53-39, 130bcd

BB: Shimano, English threaded, BB-UN71 sealed

Chain: SRAM 830

Pedals: Shimano 600

Toe Clips: Shimano 600 (need toe strap)

Bars: Paramount made by 3ttt, new Orbea white cork tape

Stem: Cinelli 1A (missing original clamp bolt, I have used a Sugino replacement, but buyer may want to check)

Seatpost: 27.2 Ritchey, made by Nitto (essentially an S65 Crystal Fellow), quite a bit of length, could be cut down or inserted further.

Saddle: Choice of A.R.S. Classic or Specialized Delta S (currently on in photos)

Wheelset: Mavic Open 4 CD laced to what appears to be Specialized hubs (from QRs and markings on hub dustcaps, but no marking on hub body itself and I have not disassembled to learn anything else), originally built by Wheelsmith

Freewheel: Shimano Dura Ace 7400, 12-21

Tires: Michelin Dynamic Classic 700x23

You're welcome anytime. Spring has sprung and the riding is fine any day there's not a wildfire burning :-)

WOW! That’s one heck of a deal!

I would have thought that a 91 would have had a tri-color group, but since these were primarily sold as framesets, who knows.
GLWTS.
Cheers,
Van

Why not give a price including shipping and use a LBS to do all the work. Probably only an additional $150 so still would be a great deal for somebody not local.

Also this is Eroica CA weekend so lots of N+1'ers are being heroic and away from home

Congrats on the new edition !

Thanks, we're excited/exhausted! I'll call around to a few shops and see what they might want to pack/ship.

Some LBS will even sell on consignment and you can get more than $350 and get it out of your home. Will sit there until it sells. The LBS in may area sell lots of nice classics this way. That is a great deal and ride!

bikeflights will probably have a shop in your area that does the packing and UPS will pick it up from them. I had a frame shipped to me this way recently and it all went smoothly.
