Low ride err... I guess it's where I live, but I am always astounded by the constant over valuing of lowrider bikes on CL in Houston. They are often astounded to learn that their $300 bicycledesigner.com pile of Chinese parts isn't worth a grand. The website doesn't even sell complete bikes anymore. They probably realized they could make much more selling them piece by piece. Seriously, look at the pivot point for the springer fork. I wouldn't trust that at 3 mph on carpet.,,,,,BD

edit:: I see they have started selling whole bikes again. For a good while they didn't. I routinely see the $300 models for $650 or more, with no modifications to justify the price.,,,,BD

Sellers who can't correctly spell Schwinn even though it is written in many places on the bike.
Sellers with dirty bikes and flat tires. Would take all of 10 minutes to pump em' up and hose it down!
Sellers who post photos that are of no value, i.e., so dark you can barely see if it is really a bike in the photo.
Sellers who post with virtually no text and no photos.
Sellers who think that every bike that is not a cruiser with balloon tires is a racing bike.
Sellers who think that every Schwinn over 10 years old is worth a fortune.
Sellers with rediculously priced, gas pipe bikes who include comments such as, "don't waist my time with lowball offers....I know what this bike is worth."
Sellers who post bikes with breaks.
Sellers who post that ".....spammers will be reported." I'll bet that scares the xxx out of any potential spammer!
I do have fun reading the listings though because at least I can say when done that there are indeed people dumber than me!!!!!!

Sellers that post, "I was told this bike is extremely rare and worth $1000 but I need money so first $500 gets it".

Sure, there's still at least 5mm of clearance between the tire and frame!

Apparently this one steers so well with the baskets that handlebars were unnecessary!

The price is right, but the setup is oh-so wrong.
[h=2]Trek 800, tri bike - $35 (washington DC)[/h]Trek 800, tri bike
"Upgraded Trek 800, 18".
This bike started its life as a hybrid (wide tires) and I slowly converted it for triathlons. It is well used but serviceable. This bike would be good for a lady who doesn't want to pay a lot for a bike, or for a younger person who wants to go fast. Also, the low gearing is great for hills or if you're not too strong yet.
For 35 bucks it's hard to go wrong on this bike. All the gears work and it stops fine.
-I changed rims and tires so now they are 26"x1".
-clip-on aero bars added.
-added straps so feet won't slip off pedals.
-4 water bottle carriers.
-Cat-Eye front light, flashing red light on back.
-3 extra tubes.
-original paperwork and manual so you know its not stolen.
***Please note I am going to remove the seat, but I'll leave it on so you can test ride it. You can pick up a new seat at Wal-Mart."

Kind of over priced, then I get to the "chipped" front hub. I cringed!,,,,BD
Add another $50 for a matching NOS hub, plus spokes and wheel building charge. It really begins to look like an awesome deal then!

The beam framed may not be wacky to some, but this is the first I've seen of S.R. Rocket.

Aluminium Crusader :-)
I have a general whine about Ebay, etc, in Aus, about the "no inspection, no pickup" policy by many sellers in the cycling category.
I'm sure it happens in other 'spheres', but the "no pickup, no inspection" thing seems to be accepted in cycling, just because most of the stuff is small enough to be posted.
It's stupid and annoying. I've bought stuff in the same suburb, and was refused cash payment on pickup; the seller insisted I pay postage, even though he was a few streets away.
What makes it silly is that it's virtually unheard of in other categories, like automotive and furniture, for eg. If I buy some mag wheels or a couch on Ebay a few suburbs away, it's obviously accepted that I can pick it up, coz it's stupid to post.
The 'no pickup" thing is a luxury in cycling that many sellers never budge on, coz they seem to accept it as their God-given right!
Boo!
Ah well, it's a free country

That's weird. I've transacted a few items in person. When the opportunity has arisen, I've generally taken it because it gives me an opportunity to meet and talk with some who has the same affliction...
