A reimagined 90s Giant Iguana

I am sort of pleased with how this came out. This is for a teacher at my school who has had a tough one.

Coolest paint I’ve seen in production paint. It is an oil slick halo effect that makes it look brown on the edges of the tubes. Very difficult to touch up but mostly good shape.

She wanted the green pedals but in case, I am bringing some black rubber pedals.

Stem, rack, bottle cage painted a oil rubbed bronze. Probably won’t be durable but sort of fit the design. The brown cables grips and saddle were sort of cool. I painted the chainstay stick on copper nail paint-

The basket is for her small dog if she wishes and was an interesting job to install.

And now moving onto my own stuff, Trixie Trek and the clunker Fuji Del Ray.

Thelma Beagle inspecting the work.

It came with it...can’t take credit! It’s removable but very sturdy at the moment.

Cool Bike. Nice of you to treat a Teacher. Be prepared to remove the basket so that she can swing her leg over. I tried a basket like that one to carry my commuter stuff and while I only had to mount-dismount 3 times each way, It was a drag with my limited flexibility.

She’s 30ish so I will have to teach her the pedal and swing! If not, she can remove the basket I guess. She’s 5’5” so perhaps not too difficult.

Better picture...

just remember when you put anything in the basket and have to strap it down, you gotta at least stretch and then release one of the straps and repeat the following, "Ya, this ins't going anywhere!" to help ensure your cargo does in fact, not go anywhere.

We've been Corgi owners for over two decades. A previous Corgi, "Biscuit" loved to go on run/rides on the local rail-trail in NH. She'd run a while, then ride in the basket on the front of my wife's bike until rested. Biscuit would never jump out of the basket. We'd need to stop and place her on the ground.

One ride, however, I was 30-40 feet in front of my wife when a bear crossed the rail-trail about 15-20 feet in front of me. Biscuit immediately jumped from the basket and chased the bear into the woods. She came back in a minute or so, sat in front of my wife to be placed in the basket again, with a look on her face which exclaimed, "I've done my job, let's continue the ride!"

Nicely done!

I really like 'Reimagined' vintage mtb's.
I've done quite a few myself and find them to be terrific at a variety of purposes such as urban cruisers, grocery getters gravel grinders, dog transporters, etc.

I've seen several transporting their small dogs in a front basket which I think I would prefer if I had a small dog so I could keep an eye on the little riding mate.

Recipient is pleased and says she will swing her leg over the top bar rather than in motion over the basket.

I love what you did with it. As I read the room though, I am very skeptical that the other very interested observer would be at all pleased with a ride in the basket. (as I re-read, I realize that may not be the pet in question)

I converted one of those to a drop-bar 2x10 fat tire machine about 6 years back. I think it handled a bit better when it had MTB bars, but I now have a bike that I can ride both to, and on the beach.
