Thanks for the encouragement. I think the infection issues are behind me. Worry about falling again and having hip damage on either side, I have been looking into padded liners but I will think about it for a while. For now I will be cautious riding and avoid the spring days where the pavement is clear but under overpasses it is still icy

Visited the doctor last week and I got the ok to put more weight onto my leg, apparently it is healing. But no riding outdoors yet. I'm going to take it slow for now and maybe I will be walking normally in a couple of months. I can start riding outside when I am walking. So I guess I will be spending time on the trainer.

I got some shorts with hip protection in anticipation that the doctor will let me start riding outdoors after the next visit. I don’t like the chamois that is in these and will wear them over my bibs. I tried them for a 20 miles in the trainer, after a few miles I really didn’t notice the pads.

Doctor’s visit is in too weeks, I’m hopeful that I will be riding outdoors soon.

i went traveling last month, first time I have been able to do any real travel since this started.

We purchased a second home three months before the accident. I needed to get back to the old house to make sure that it is still standing. Also my kid moved to NYC, I wanted to see her apartment and she wanted me to put up some shelves.

We drove from Las Vegas to Omaha to Chicago to NYC and back.

The doctor warned me about blood clots and told me to take baby aspirin before my trip to prevent clots. I also have a pair of portable leg compression devices that I used in the car.

I am sure the doctor will let me start riding with the next visit in a week. I have a project bike that I am getting ready in anticipation of riding. I found a cheap specialized stumpjumper, I was all ready to convert it into a gravel bike, but then my brother-in-law donated a gravel bike to me, it was missing the drive train.

I got all the parts and put the Stumpjumper together with a 10 speed system. This should be good to start with.

I have the parts on order for the gravel bike and will ride that after I get some confidence. Then back to my road bikes

This will be the last update.

I'm healed. No restrictions. I went out riding today, 5 miles around the neighborhood.

Thanks for all the support, see you on the road.

I commend you for your resilience.
Best wishes for a full recovery.
You know, there are more conventional ways to lose weight.
