Someone made a comment about if someone would every found out what people say about their bikes . I don't know you seem to be pretty defensive when comments that are made about it. Is it yours? Just remember the tittle of this tread, "Wacky world of Craig's list". From this tittle you will have to agree that things where going to get a little heavy with humor. Look at my name that I'm using here "dwightisright" not all of the time, not even 60% of the time. The name is used in just. It tells the people here that if they are going to have fun with me and their humor is going to be taken. It also tells people that I'm going to have fun with their pet project.

What is value of an item? Is it the value of what you or someone else puts on it or is it the value that the market puts on the item? When people start a forum and the tittle is Classic and Vintage Bikes. I think you guess what most of these people are thinking about. I happen to like TREK bikes but they are not everyones cup of tea. Just like it's not my cup of tea when PO8s are mention, they are not something that I like. But someone likes them. I sure that when other members of this forum found out that I collect TREKs their eye rolled. When I read about PO8 collectors my eyes rolled too. But we also understand that someone is going to have a little fun. They are going to be jokes about what is collected. I guess what I trying to say is just keep calm. We all like old bikes on this forum.

Patrick are you trying to sell this bike? Somehow I don't think this thread was the right place to do it. Remember the tittle of this thread.

Not sure if this is a regular thing, or if someone got sick and tired of seeing high priced crud.
Here's a thought.......

If you've been posting the same, tired old bike for months or years; maybe it's time to lower your price to something realistic. Or learn to ride it. Just because it's old doesn't make it valuable. You don't get "paid back" for labor and parts. You get paid for what it's worth, that's it. Get real people.

Ironically there is a bike on there that I am going to try to check out tomorrow, but its priced so reasonably that there is no way it will be there by noon when I get a chance....

Not sure I would use the word crud. But the idea behind what shipwreck is saying is right. This post could or should be sticky. There is just a lot of places on the net that could use this idea.

I ran into a guy at a flea market with a collection of old cruisers including an old Schwinn cruiser and I asked about the price. Before he would even tell me the price, he started running down a list of attributes that were almost completely wrong (claimed it was a 1915, all original, rare model, etc.) When I got through explaining why his $600 price was optimistic for a 1950's bike with a bad rattlecan paint job and a bunch of mismatched parts, he offered this Hawthorne as another "all original" gem:

I pointed out that it was another repaint with a bunch of aftermarket parts and badly bent fork, but he argued that the paint was original and the fork wasn't bent, it was just backwards. I'd heard enough lies for one morning and said "ok, let's see what happens when it's the right way around." and turned the bars 180°. When the fender smacked the down tube, I told him "You're right, it is backwards. Backwards and bent."

He's got this one on craigslist for $600 also...

I'm guessing this GT got parted out and received transplants from a Magna. Poor thing. The ad does mention "new" parts though!

[h=2]90's GT Karakoram Mountain Bike Nice Vintage Bicycle - $150[/h]90's GT Karakoram Mountain Bike Nice Vintage Bicycle

"Nice GT Karakoram from the 90's. This is a Triple Triangle Frame and will last forever. This was a $500.00 plus bike when new and was bought from a bike store.Measures 20.5 from centerof crank to top of seat post. This bike has all new cables, brakes, grip shifters and more.Rims were just trued.Very nice GT neck and a set of Rock Shox on the front.Very cool marble color pain scheme. This bike rides and shifts very smooth,in fact you might say,Like New!I would consider trade for motorcycle, parts bikes, crashed or damaged.May consider other items, run it by me.$150.00"

I was eyeing the bracket the steering tube is attached to, if it doesn't bend from the rider's weight then I'm pretty sure the tub on the wheelbarrow will.

The rustbucket Bottecchia I passed on for $40, now at $200(after a kiddie pool full of oxalic acid). It was at $250 until I outed him, I guess his guilt is only worth 50 bucks.,,,,BD

I think those are Chevy headers. What a waste of parts and time spent on this mess.

Better headers then I was running. At least I'd get a little more boom in my truck with them. Yeah, way to mess up a good wheelbarrow. If he would cruise my hood he could of come home with a pickup full of wheelbarrows.
