I don't have much hope of finding what I want. I want a bolt to replace the attachment bolt for my Quad Lock bracket. I like to move the bracket from bike to bike. The bolt takes a 3mm allen key, and it is starting to round out. I'd like the head to be a thumb screw or something similar so I can operate it with my hand. It is a cap screw, so maybe I could make a knob with a hex protrusion and bond it with JB Weld. I've never used the stuff. Does that make any sense?

I don't remember, but it's either a 3mm or 4mm bolt. I've looked all through McMaster.

It's the bolt in the foreground, not the one on the blue tab.

Both the original Mathausers and the modern Yokozunas came with either threaded or unthreaded posts, depending on what brake you have.

The trick is to identify the thread. There are plenty of wing bolts sometime called thumb screws available. If you have a hardware store with a good screw selection, bring the part with you and start testing until you find the correct thread size. Once you have that, you're golden. Just go back to McMaster or Grainger and search for stainless wing bolts/ thumb screws in that size.

Ah, good call, speaking of Crank Bolt Covers - but for Nervar Star cranks. I could use 2 pairs if NOS or mint or at least 3 decent ones.

It's a cable pinch bolt , but the most elegant one I have ever seen (I haven't seen that many) . It's from a Shimano 7401 Dura Ace RD . Behold the beauty . It's right under the A in Dura Ace

Perhaps not that ancient, but I'd love to find a pair of IRD Blackbird 26.0 handlebars. They seem to be one of those items that once production ceased, they just vanished from the market.

Almost every bike I have built was not complete. Part of the fun, for me, is waiting to find that last part and I usually do, though it might take some time. I should add that I don't have tons of money so I must seek that elusive part but for little cash outlay. That said, I did start installing those last parts a few days ago...

The Atala got its Campy crank set and, finally, the correct rear derailleur with no date and the irregular dimple bumps on the face...

Then I went to work on my Legnano Grand Premio slated for a bit of upgrading. Intended to install the Stronglight 49d crank set and bottom bracket, an embossed Legnano head set and a set of Universal 68 brake calipers. Sadly, a dead bear, and a broken set of kitchen taps(don't ask about that nightmare) and a failed hot water tank all tended to interfere with the work and the Leggy now looks like this, waiting for me to get back to it but still need the brakes, which a fellow forum member is sending to me as I sit. The unfinished Legnano Grand Premio...

Then this lovely old, well not all that old, Cyclops showed up, entered my little stable and nothing else has got done on bikes, since then...

And, my primary build for this year still hangs, untouched, on the wall in my porch. My hope was paint and art, followed by a full build, but still in great need of a set of Universal calipers that are period correct (late fifties) before I can begin the build. So, the Rabeneick 120d sits, perhaps until next season...

Me too, finally found one, but had to get a whole bike to do it. Apparently the Suntour Ultra 6 freewheel 14-28t was.original equipment on early 80s Kabuki speed 12s. Whole bike was cheaper then the Ultra 6 freewheels I’ve seen on eBay. Used it to replace the 26t Ultra 6 on my 84 Supersport.

For me it's the 60cm lugged Tom Ritchey frameset that I should have bought from Tom in 1973 instead of the rather lackluster Bob Jackson that the local shop talked me into.

I think it's a fairly typical bolt, but the nut is pretty fancy. Do you need the whole assembly or just the nut? I might have one or one similar enough.

Hi @cyclotoine , thanks for the reply . The pinch bolt locates on the RD body (so it wont twist) with two bosses , the cable goes thru a hole in the threaded shank and is tightened up by a nut with a Allen head . It's a very clean design as you only see the smooth head from the outside . On mine the threaded shank is starting to get striped , but holds . I'm thinking that if I can find the nut and bolt , that's what I need . I'm a little leary about taking it apart because like I said it's holding and I don't know if it can take one more disassemble .

First of all, I ended up passing on the two Jo Routens bikes I looked at in Lullin.

Simply too far gone.

However, I did find a very nice vintage Berthoud canvas bag system.

This included front and rear racks that look to be custom. These will go on my long term Chris Kvale touring bike project.

Very tricky to find some of these unique pieces in the US.

Was gonna say, just call them up. They specialize is stuff like this.

The current item I'd like to find (don't know that it exists...) is an 1-1/8" threadless 700c switchblade style fork with cantilever mounts. Weight be damned. I want one. I know Bontrager made some 1" threaded ones ages ago.

While not technically obscure, it is pretty hard to find on its own - the little flat coil spring that tensions the cage on a Suntour Cyclone Mk II rear derailleur. When I took it apart, I realized it was broken, and then I proceeded (unintentionally, of course), to break it further

These are such great derailleurs, and super light weight...would be a shame for it to be retired simply due to a little broken spring.

The helical spring on the 1st gen Cyclone is also scarce.
