1972 Raleigh Super Course worth?

I found a very used 1972 Raleigh Super Course bike in the trash. Is it worth anything? For some reason the site will not let me post pictures, but I have them if want to see them. The bike has a 6 digit serial number and looks like everything is all original, but I know nothing about bikes so if anyone can give me any information.

You can't post pics until 10 posts, 5 posts/day for 2 days. Prevents spammers.
You can upload pics to your gallery on your personal profile page and maybe someone will post them here.

Short version: if it's a super course, grab it! I really good shape. depending on your market, $300. Probably less since it was in the trash, maybe as much as $200, when fixed up and ready to ride. Out of the trash condition, probably not more than $75, if that.

= when fixed up and ready to ride.

Do you know how much it would cost to fix it up?

I picked up a Ď71 Super Course last Dec on a trade for a winter build. It cost me about 125.00 for chain, tires, cables, hoods, bar tape. All in, itís worth it. Timeless classic.

Hereís mine with added Araya wheelset (higher pressure), Sakae crankset (alloy), Shimano Deerhead rear and 600 front derailleur. These bikes are cool and so incredibly upgradeable.

Depends if you are flipping or keeping to ride.

Parts (depending which of the below is needed)
Tubes $20
Tires $60-80
New Rim Tape $12
Brake Pads $15-25
New shifter/brake cables if needed $20-$40
New bar tape $20-$40
Chain $15

Labor (if you can't do yourself)
Truing wheels $15 each
Regreasing hubs, crank and headset $50-$100
Adjusting brakes $5-$25
Adjusting derailleur's $10-$35
Installing new cables $?
Installing bar tape $?
Add in whatever your time is worth detailing it.

If you don't have the tools / knowledge its most economical just to clean it up and sell it for whatever it will bring on Craigslist.

$120-$150 to restore

I concur with OldsCOOL - $130ish to bring it back to life. Iíve restored a bunch of Raleighs and thatís close to what I spend on parts. Super Course is a good ride. Enjoy.

I have a 1973 Super Course.

VERY SMOOTH ride !!!!!!

If it is in good condition, bring it back to " life" !!!

Post some pics, especially from the crank ( drive) side.
