Campagnolo rim diameters

Campagnolo rim diameters
Hey, I think this is the place I'm most likely to get a sensible answer.
I hear a lot of complaints about tyres being tough to fit onto Campagnolo rims, generally regardless of which model. I think I have heard this said of other Italian rims. I have also heard that Italian rims have an ever so slightly larger diameter, which can make some makes of tyre hard to fit.
Is there any truth in this? What is the real cause? Do you notice it with your rims? I have to say that Schwalbe Marathons were a tight fit to my (French) Rigida rims.
I'm not inclined to believe that Campagnolo is simply mismanufacturing their rims.

I can't speak to *all* Campagnolo rims, but I have a set of Victory Strada rimmed wheels. No issues getting a tire on the rim -- unless you consider tubulars a problem in general.

I just took off my Campy clinchers and put on a pair of Rigida 1320's. The tires were all but impossible to mount on the Campy rims, plus I didn't like the way they looked. The Regidas are nice and shiny and the tires go right on.

I have a bear of a time installing Continental tires on my Campag. Omega rims. This is the only combination for which I have to use tire levers on both beads. Next time around, I am inclined to experiment with Vittorias or other Italian-branded tires (even if they are made in Thailand).
