Sram AXS chainring gap

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sram AXS chainring gap

Hi,
It seems that all cranksets have a 13 tooth gap.
I was wondering if a 15 tooth gap would work: 48/33T
Anyone tried or know if could work or not?

Thank you!

I ride Force AXS with a 48/35. I did some maintenance once and inadverantly changed the angle between the chainrings. The front wouldn't shift at all. The chainrings have ramps and pins to catch the chain and facilitate shifting. They have to be set up correctly. Since SRAM only sells cranksets with a 13 tooth difference I would be surprised if they would work if you tried a 15 tooth difference.

I've used Campy chorus 48/32 and shimano grx 48/31 and 46/30 cranks. All shifted perfectly. The chain rings must be matched sets or shifting will be poor. Sram axs chain rings apparently don't shift all that well even in matched sets, based on all of the chain drop complaints.

I have Sram AXS and it shifts fine and I have never dropped a chain.

You're lucky. There are many posts on this problem on weight weenies and the sram axs Facebook page.

I don't use sram cranks because they lack range. The 16T difference I use works much better for the mountainous terrain that I ride.
