We sold 6 bikes today at the downtown public market, including the lovely white Trek 660 with the full 600 groupset seen hanging in the foreground of some of the pictures above. The buyer got a great deal and was very happy.

We'll be participating in a downtown brewery crawl next Saturday, March 4. Come see us at the starting point - Grand Avenue Brewery at 11:00 am.

Tonight is the last night for the Rusty Spoke extra spring bike sale hours, 5-8 on Tuesday. After tonight it will be just regular hours, 5-8 on Wednesday and 9-12 on Sunday.

We will also be selling bikes at the downtown Public Market the next two Saturdays, March 18 and 25.

Rusty Spoke at the downtown market tomorrow, 8-1. We sold 6 bikes last Saturday - come get yours before the good ones are gone.

This is probably our last time at the market for a while due to schedule conflicts.

We're loaded up the ol' Truckasaurus and we're almost ready to head down to the big GABA Tucson bike swap early on Sunday morning at Armory Park. See us there - we'll have shirts, bags, components, and an eclectic selection of bicycles for sale. See you there!

It was a good day in Tucson. Sold a Trek tandem, the Sting-Ray, the Electra 3 speed cruiser, that Schwinn Sidewinder I'd posted about long ago, a carbon fiber Windsor, and a vintage Motobecane set up as a singlespeed. Plus a car rack, some freewheels, shirts, an Arai drum brake, plus other stuff.

After taking most of the summer off, the Rusty Spoke will be back at the downtown Phoenix farmer's market soon. Watch this space.

Of course, we're also open on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings in our space at 11th Avenue and Grand. We have some good bikes for sale. A pretty decent amount of vintage stuff right now, some available as-is at rock bottom prices.

These haven't been fixed up for sale yet, but you could get a deal if you want to come visit us and check them out. Sorry, but we do not have staffing for online sales, packing, and shipping at this time.
The market for vintage-ish mountain bikes is crazy slow. I'm pretty sure we still have all three of these bikes. The non-mountain bikes in the post below this one are all long gone.

If you are in Phoenix and you want a vintage mountain bike, stop by and make us an offer.

On Sunday, November 12th, several of the Rusty Spoke gang made the epic adventure south to the semi-annual GABA Tucson swap meet.

I didn't take a picture of myself at the swap, but Damion Alexander did. I'm the doof in the bike shirt in the foreground - the "experienced-looking" individual in the bucket hat is my buddy Karl (who also rode on the Yarnell ride Friday).

It was good day, in terms of weather, location, patronage, sales, and ability for the guys to pick up useful stuff from all the other booths. Definitely worth our while to make the effort to travel and attend, and looking forward to the next one in April 2024.

But don't wait until April - come visit us Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings at the shop on Grand Avenue.

Thanks for checking in! The current hours are Wednesday 5-8 and Sunday 9-12 only.

Tuesday nights were a temporary experiment. It worked for a few weeks, but then all five people who hang out on Grand Avenue on Tuesdays had bikes and we didn't sell any more.

We've been extremely busy fixing bikes on Wednesdays and Sundays. We'd like to add more hours if we can get our volunteer numbers up.

In addition to our regular hours, we'll be semi-open for a training session this Friday, March 22 starting at 5:30. The training is for our volunteers, but if you think you might want to volunteer then you are invited.

We will not be fixing bikes on Friday. If you want to buy a bike and have cash (or a credit card) in hand we probably won't say no.

On Sunday, several Rusty Spokers braved lack of sleep and a long drive down to Tucson for the semi-annual bike swap, my truck and trailer packed full of bikes, parts, canopies, chairs, tables, and junk useful stuff.

We set up at ohdarkthirty while early arrivals started rummaging through our stuff before it was even unpacked. And I forgot to get photos of the magnificent display. We stayed busy much of the day showing off our nice previously-loved C&V bikes for sale (including the stars of this https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...l#post23197419 posting), while taking turns looking at all the other great stuff available at the other booths and purchasing cool parts & accessories from others for ourselves or the shop.

One of our contingent (Eli) appeared telegenic enough to be the subject of an interview from a reporter from a local TV station.

After a long warm day we were happy with moving 7 bikes on to new happy owners, including my very own "uglybike" as detailed at https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...l#post23215306 .

Hot, tired, & hungry. Where to? Back home, eventually, but first, let's hit someplace with lots of cold water, air conditioning, and an all-you-can-eat buffet. Yum.

The drive home was vexed by congestion and a crosswind which reduced the fuel economy to the 8-9 mpg range with the trailer, plus an unfortunate situation where we had to block traffic for a 3-vehicle crash until highway patrol could show up and clear the scene. But overall a great adventure, a hefty boost to the co-op's bottom line (even after gas & lunch), a way to move some two-wheeled inventory and make people happy, and we're making plans for the November swap already.

Edit: Here is the story from that local TV station:
(I'm the guy in the obnoxious shirt wandering around aimlessly in the background at the 1:30 mark)
