Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I rode by the FEMA site at the Convention Center around 11:15 on Tuesday morning. There was literally no one entering the facility. There was a worker/volunteer at the corner of 12th & Race with a home made sign saying walk-ins were available. I realize that time of day is likely not as popular as before and after work hours, but still. Heard on the news last evening that business has started to pick up again. I also heard that there are many doses about to expire because of lack of demand. What a shame.

My second Pfizer is a week from today. Keeping Friday's schedule open in case I get floored again.

I predict they will be offering $5 WaWa gift cards if you get your shot, in another week or two. Not kidding. The people who really want a vaccine have been vaccinated or at least have it set up. The rest of the population is either passive or reluctant/unwilling to get the vaccine. I am trying to encourage my patients to get it but they come up with stupid excuses and I can't overcome their irrational arguments.

Sad!

Indeed. Not to go all P&R, but one of the funniest things about the idiots who post on FB and elsewhere about the vaccine and 'tracking microchips' is that they post this idiocy from their Smartphones.

That would definitely bring more people in.

I am pretty sure my ex hasn't gotten it because she thinks this whole virus thing, and the precautions surrounding it, are overblown. She could walk to the convention center from her condo in a little over 10 min.

I tried 'em years ago and was not very impressed. Not as good as the Gillette Mach - Whatever razors...And I wasn't willing to compromise on quality in order to save just a few bucks. Though Harry's may be better now.

Best option is to grow a beard. Now it takes me about three months to go through a razor, since I just use it to do a little touch-up every week or two.

Or you could buy the Mach 20:

So if I get a third shot will I be extra-extra protected do you think? Maybe try Pfizer this time instead of Moderna.

Yep. Probably won't make it much beyond 60%.

This. Last week, Mrs. GeneJockey and The Boys were repeatedly hitting all the websites till they finally got appointments, with Mrs. GJ finally getting jabbed on Tuesday. Yesterday, I saw an announcement they were opening up the local mass vax site for walk-ins.

I'm hoping this abundance of opportunity leads to more people getting it, rather than what I fear, which is that we'll hit something like 60% of the population vaccinated and the remaining 40% forming a nice pool of susceptibles to keep the pandemic going and the variants coming, till those of us who DID get vaccinated have to go back for shots because 40% of the population are too dumb to come in out of the rain.

I was hearing that Moderna and Pfizer are expecting to be in the booster business for a couple years at least.

I was amazed recently at the supermarket to pass by a shelf with some sort of bottled substance labeled 'Smart Water'. Wonder what it could have been.

It's a test. If you're smart, you don't buy it.

One of my co workers I follow on strava. He’s not a cyclist, but an avid runner. My issue, he is always leaving strava on when he drives or turns it on when he flies. I don’t get it.

What’s worse, I don’t know why it bothers me.

Yeah, well - maybe before you reach the Santa Claus stage. That's when I shaved mine off. Instantly looked 10 years younger.

I've seen some ridiculous KOMs that can only have been done with a car.
