If you're local to Columbus, we have two bike co-ops that might have bars for your needs. Third Hand has a pile of drop bars in the loft (with plenty of steel bars). Franklinton's co-op will also have parts, and have a reputation of higher caliber bikes and parts, primarily because Third Hand is the beneficiary of the university's public safety impound.

High folks,
I'm looking for a Campagnolo front QR skewer in reasonable condition. For trade I have a 1st generation Dura-Ace that is in good condition with some pitting and scratches in the chrome. It came off of a wheel with and old Campagnolo NR hub laced to a Super Champion rim. Not particular about the model, just would like the skewer to be the same brand.

ISO:

• 1950's or early 1960's Raleigh Sports North Road handlebar. The kind with the better chrome than the '70s stuff.
• A 1950's Raleigh Sports/Superbe front Westrick rim (the kind with the dull chrome raised center), 32 hole, of course.
• One 1950's Sturmey-Archer serrated hub washer - the serrated washer with knurling. It was used prior to the slotted anti-rotation type.
• A 1950's 1" Raleigh cable fulcrum clamp; the kind with the dull chrome finish on the inside.

'Net appears to show there are two types of these, one stamped, the tabs formed used as the anti-rotation stops, the other looks cast/forged with a more substantial portion as anti-rotation.

If it's the forged one, SJS cycles (UK) has them for 99p, get a facilitator to stick one in a letter envelope between sheets of cardboard (if they wont).

I'll have a look in the bins for either.

If it's something else entirely, got a pic?

That fits the category of engineering a certain eponymous Italian motorcar manufacturer would have termed "agricultural".

Not really - the early Raleigh dropouts are 8mm, which prevents the Sturmey axle from rotating around its flats. The anti-rotation washers were developed later to help spread the load to, preventing damage to the dropout slots.

I'm aiming for an original build here, so I want to replace the missing washer with an original piece.

EDIT: I should clarify for anyone reading - Sturmey did specify anti-rotation washers during this era (for example, as shown in the '46 Dynothree parts breakdown) on both sides, so they did exist even in '50 (the production year of the bike I'm working on) - Raleigh just didn't use them at the time. Have already been through enough unmodified originals to confirm I've never seen the Raleigh serrated washer paired with the early, stamped anti-rotation washer.

Yeah for sure. Interested older steel road. Anything 80s. Send me a pm. There are some rust spots where the paint chipped, before you get hopes up too high.

I'll preface this with saying I'm not sure if I'm really in the market for something right now, but this is what I've been thinking a lot about. It's quite specific but maybe this will be fruitful to put out there:

High quality steel lugged or fillet brazed frameset (531db, Columbus SL, etc). TIG welded Ti is an option but likely out of my budget. I'd like to build something fairly light.

62cm max, 60cm min CTC seat tube
57-58cm CTC top tube

73° STA (72-72.5° okay, maybe 73.5° okay, top tube length needs to compensate)

27.2mm seatpost
22.2mm steer tube
BSA bottom bracket

Clearance for 700c x 28mm tires minimum
No full brake cable housing run on top of top tube. I sweat a lot and don't want to deal with keeping that clean.

Internal routing okay but I don't want to have the housing bouncing around loose inside. I'd prefer braze on stops on the top tube.

2 bottle cage mounts
100mm / 130mm spacing (or be okay with cold setting)

Recessed brake mounts for mid-reach calipers like Tektro R539 (or possible to drill out for recessed brakes)

If paint in excellent condition, I'd like it to look good with modern black components and wheels. I don't like red at all, really prefer silvers and greys, also light blue. I would be okay powder coating if paint in rough shape.

I prefer white, but any color is fine.
