polymorphself, that Nishiki turned out really well! I like the finish and the paint on that bike. Really classy. Getting rid of the spoke protector and reflectors was a wise decision, as it helps focus on the bike itself and and highlight the beautiful details. Well done!

Not the lightest frame (Tange 5) but the original Deore parts are a favorite of mine

Another split-tube Moto. Picked up for $5 last year-After a wash & wax, looked like it was sitting on a showroom floor. My wife had no interest, so I sold it for $200 not long after. Beautiful Vitus lugged frame that really popped in the sun. Motobecane also had a Grand Jubile split-tube that was constructed of Reynolds 531, but I've never actually seen one in person.

Just picked up one of the most uncommon ones ever. I really wish they'd made them in my size as well:

In a similar vein, mrs non-fixie's Blouson. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and made by Bridgestone. Some more details here. Not a lightweight by any measure, but mrs non-fixie has successfully 'glided' to work on it a couple of times.

I think that designers love to key in on graphic elements such as sloping lines. Cherubim did a road bike with a similar theme at the 2009 NAHBS show in Indy. Very wild and not nearly as practical. Now that I think about it, it probably qualifies as a step-through frame.....

At the 2018 Classic Rendezvous gathering, there was a Weigle mixte displayed by Mrs. Townsend. I wonder how many of these Peter has made?
I'd have to check, but I think Dave Moulton had one (that he built) on display too.

I've seen enough British "flying gates" and such that I initially just assumed it was an attempt to get a shorter wheelbase.. except that it doesn't appear to do that.

mine, too! every since the late 70's early 80's, i've enjoyed that same color combo/contrast. in fact, the carpeting in the room that jack nicholson finds the lady showering (the shining) are those colors. (odd ball example, i know)
i'd love the get my hands on a deore I set like that. i'd trade just about any other group set i have <<ehem>>

@orcas island has a beautiful Follis Berceau. Last I knew it was for sale; but if he still has it perhaps he could post a couple of photos here.

Not really above average, but fairly uncommon. An early 90s *lugged* mixtie hybrid. Pretty low-end, but I thought it had ridiculous potential with it's clearances. Too big for my wife, now on CL.

OT but did you add weight or anything to the pvc bike stand? I tried to make on of these and it would not hold the bike up (I did follow a plan and it had higher side rails)

It is beautifully constructed and well thought through. The touch points are exactly where you would expect them on a regular bike, as opposed to many folders. With some new grease, chain and tires mrs non-fixie did a 40k (!) first test ride on it, liked it and didn't notice anything "funny". Praise doesn't come much higher that that, and it means that messrs. Nishimura and Shimada really got the design right.

First I've heard of these. Know the brand, of course, but not that they made/make these. Worth considering.

About a month ago, this had a FREE sign taped to it… Since then it has been stripped and repainted, components changed and some remain…
The frame is a Nishiki Olympic… Wheels are 27”… We live in a flat town and I built this up for visitors to ride along with us…
