1975 Witcomb USA Touring. What's it worth?
I've had this 25" 1975 Witcomb USA Touring bike for a number of years.
Campy derailleurs, hubs, brakes, pedals, and cranks.
Suntour shifters.
Super Champion rims.
Bluemels fenders.
Rack mount.
new Panaracer Pasela TG tires
Paint has many marks/blemishes.
Chrome has rust, especially on the toe clips and pedal cages.
No dents.
I'm considering selling it, and was curious about it's value. I saw a similar bike on ebay...sold for $1300.
There are a few threads about the history of Witcomb USA, and the involvement of Richard Sachs, JP Weigle, Chris Chance and Gary Sinkus, but they do not address the value of these bikes.

Thanks!

I'll try my luck on ebay. I've packed and shipped plenty of bikes, so that doesn't worry me. The hassles with non-paying bidders, local pick up buyers who ask, after winning the auction, if I'd mind holding the bike "for a couple of months", and people who complain about shipping costs (what? I packed and shipped your bike across the country for less than $60!) have made me wary of selling on ebay, but hey, I'll give it a go!
Do you plan to sell on eBay? Do you have the skills and time to properly pack and ship a bike at a reasonable price? eBay takes a certain mindset as things can go wrong.
One single sale on eBay does not a trend make. But it does give you a starting point. Yours is a harder size to sell, but condition wise, looks better.
Local sale? Much, much lower, a small fraction of the eBay sale in my area.

On the last bike I shipped out, I checked prices with UPS, FedEX, USPS...The cheapest, by far, was Bikeflights.com. I entered the dimensions and weight of the box, and their quote was nearly half of what UPS wanted, and about 30% less than the FedEX quote. They must get a deal from FedEX, because the shipping label they emailed to me was for FedEX. I was very surprised at how much less than UPS it was...and I have access to a UPS account that does a huge volume of overnight mail.
