BB conversion query Shimano external threaded to any other

Hi guys,
I am planning to buy a new bike which is
https://www.kestrelbicycles.com/road/rt-1000-shimano-105

This has a Shimano external threaded BB with BB30 adapter which people say creaks a lot.

[url=https://ibb.co/dUbNmQ]

I want to change it to a different setup like bb86 or bb90 which doesnt creak.

Is it possible to change it with a adapter to something better? If so what BB should i choose which performs better and doesnt creak for which conversion is easier

I wanna use the same shimano 105 crankset which comes as OEM with the bike on a different BB. Is it possible?

I am a newbie with respect to bike mechanics. I am sorry if it is a too basic question

You're worrying about a problem that doesn't exist yet.

If it is indeed a bb30 direct fit, it'll be unlikely to creak with the proper installation. If it does you can look at bb30 converter option from BBInfinite.

Probably the best designed conversion bb out there. Better than wheels mfg, better than praxis.

We used these all the time, expensive, but the best option.

No. Most of the people who bought a kestrel rt1000 or a rt800 have reported creaking from bb in the internet

Its been reported in performance bike. Please see in reviews

https://www.performancebike.com/webap...052_1187449_-1

Also in our own forum

https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-me...bon-creak.html

And here

https://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/la...7_5668crx.aspx

I am trying to source the bike with great difficulty to india. I dont want to loose my peace of mind. So i am trying to outweigh my options before i choose to pay

Thank you
Drashkum

A very noob question

Does all the frames have a same standardised size BB shell in which any BB can be used?

If i want to use the OEM shimano 105 cranks set what are the BB i can use?

The kestrel website says the RT 1000 has a shimano external threaded BB with BB30 adapter... If it is the shimano external threaded BB that they have put in then what is the BB adapter for? What BB is exactly housed inside the frame in this bike?

Can someone help me

the Frame uses a BB30

adapters consist of a diameter reducing sleeve that fits into the BB30 bearing, so a crankset with a smaller axle (like the shimano) will fit.

the adapter does not change the fact that the bottom bracket itself remains a BB30, with any perceived creaking tendencies unchanged

you cannot change the frame to use a different type BB, the adapters only change Crankset compatibility, not Bottom Bracket compatibility

No, all frames Do Not have the same standardized BB shell
quit thinking about changing to a different type of BB, you're stuck with it.

xenologer sums it up well. i would add that I have a felt f5 with a bb30 with adaptor reducers for a shimano crank that has never creaked in 20000+ kms so its not a given

I'm thinking the OP is more confused than before with this bit of info.

A bb shell is just that, only a shell. It is a bottom bracket if it includes bearings suitable for a specific crank spindle.

BB30 shells can be converted to "other" style bottom brackets with shell inserts like those sold by FSA and SRAM/Truvativ. Once installed in a BB30 "shell" they will accept a standard BSA outboard bearing bottom bracket.

I don't know this for sure but possible Kestrel is using something similar which would allow them build only one frame style, which would accept the BB30 standard bearings and crank spindle, or with the use of shell insert would utilize a BSA bottom bracket. It sounds like from their literature and component use, this is how it works.
