Repair old Knog tail light
I've got this old Knog tail light ... Only thing wrong with it is the mounting binder broke. Anybody successfully repaired one of these?

Make holes on the two sides and connected them with wire?

Not that brand, but my last blinkie that broke I just glued it on with gorilla glue. The eventual removal was a pain, but meh.

This is a clever solution, but sadly, this doesn't work with the small Knog light in the OP

Using the video posted above, this solution worked yesterday ... I didn't lose it on the N Cedar Trail (for those outside MSP area, it's a very rough paved trail), so I'd call that well tested! This is a basic ponytail holder looped around the broken binder. I tried a couple different options (like a Garmin mounting binder), and the ponytail holder had the best grip.

You can superglue silicone effectively, I’m pretty sure. Or maybe using silicone RTV to glue it would work. Did you try gluing the strap back together?

Not to be a downer (written as I prepare to be a downer) ...
It may be possible to repair that break this time. But how are you going to deal with the likelihood that there's another flaw in the strap that's about to break in the next week or month of riding? If the surface of the silicone is oxidizing and cracking ( <- speculation there), that seems like it's analogous to spokes on a poorly tensioned wheel: after they start breaking, best approach is to replace them all.

I had that same old light. Sadly mine died during the pandemic (I wasn't riding for a few months and when I tried to get it running again, it just wouldn't turn on at all) so I upgraded before I had this problem.
