I saw that on VeloNews' website earlier. I was pulling for him, so glad he won! And I hope he told Nibali to kiss his...chamois.

Glad he won too! Gladder that the ever-so-talkative Nibali and the oh-so-boring Quintana didn't win.

Unspoken? Seriously? It's all the drama queens ever talk about.
You know he was relieving himself of more than water. He had the time to spare and he took it at the most opportune moment. I don't hold it against him, but if he was half the prince some people make him out to be, he wouldn't have made silly accusations (collusion? Good Lord...) against riders he skillfully maintained an advantage over.
It was a good race.

He was referring to the next stage, where others allegedly attacked while he was taking a 'nature break' early on the stage. Afaik, that turned out to not be the case.

I wish American families were this cool. Kid looks she is doing a two wheel slide around a corner and dad's completely chill with that.

Criterium du Dauphine: heartbreak for Porte, but a good ride. He sure did try! At least Froome didn't win I guess.

Also, the announcer for the last two stages (on NBCSN).. oh man, that was painful.

Tour de Suisse: Gilbert takes a sprint win, even with short socks!!

That was a good one. Such a good read, getting in that little group that split off in the last few hundred meters. Position is everything! He's so savvy.

It was one of those messy sprints where I'm just waiting (but not hoping) for a big pileup to happen.. no organization, guys going all different directions, etc.

I think the foreshortening of the camera exaggerates it a bit, but I'm sure that was still sketchy from within the field.

But yeah Gilbert did a great job. There's a reason he's kind of a big deal!

Yesterday's sprint finish win by Matthews was rad.

The finish was the opposite of the one before; it was clean, and safe. Well, except for Degenkolb & Sagan bumping behind him! Didn't seem like Sagan did anything wrong, I think Degenkolb was just mad he lost.

So, Sagan has a new victory "salute" - lol.

Today, tiny Pozzovivo won in style. Weird seeing him in the interview, given his size I always think he's like 13 years old.

Someone needs to give Mike Woods a full-on descending clinic. That was painful to watch. Was really hoping he'd hang on. He was killing that climb.

he's a runner who's been biking for like 4 years and now has to try and descend in the rain at speed. at least he's not crashing all the time like when he first started out.

It's a suburban school district broadcaster covering the home race for a good chunk of the bike industry, UHC, RALLY, and Greg LeMond. In person you won't find a more friendly or unassuming race.

20 years ago you would still be wondering who won the Giro unless you knew someone in Italy or VeloNews was early to print. Half the team hotels wouldn't have had hot water or reliable electricity. The video feed is intentionally free of pre-cut drone footage and hype selling junk to millennials in favor of keeping the atmosphere enjoyable. Like watching racing in the old country with an ex-pro on the mic.

Thought you had live stream to Nevada City ... but apparently that is the "Toughest Criterium in the US"

Greg LeMond was the winner for the three consecutive years of 1979-81 and he was subsequently honored when the Nevada City City Council proclaimed August 11, 1986 as "Greg LeMond Day"
I'm fairly sure the date and parcours are no coincidence. Since you brought it up here are the two courses for comparison. Stillwater's base elevation is 696' or 1778' lower than Nevada City

Nevada City Classic Lap

Stillwater Criterium Lap

Edited now that there is a segment so the two laps show in equal scale.

Temps will get close to 100 up in Nevada City today. Beer hand ups and the sprinklers will be quite popular at the top of the hill.

So one of Contador's tdf boys (Cardoso) just got popped for EPO. Just transferred to Trek this year after four years at Garmin/Cannondale.

Hmm. It's just really, really hard to like any American protour teams.

Oh, and US pro nats?!! Larry Warbasse, who I'd never even heard of until a couple of weeks ago at the Tour de Suisse...wow. That guy! Happy times for him! Such a great story.

The hopeful side of me wonders if he was transferred from Garmin because they knew something of this.

The realist is like "nah...."

Today's example of how low journalism has sunk, reporting on social media non-events and a credo nothing is unprintable.

Jan Bakelants was clearly not standing up to represent his sponsors and the wholesome sporting image if he even realized he was being interviewed by someone (dis)reputable. Asked a series of questions by someone from Het Laatste Nieuws the responses grew increasingly blue and tasteless, ie **** off. So they printed it and muckraked it the door of the pure as driven snow ASO who abhor any kind of scandal producing publicity.

Reporter: When are you going to call your parents during the tour?

Bakelants: When I run out of porno movies.

Reporter: So how are you going to deal without sex for three weeks?

Bakelants: Well, the porno movies and there are the podium hostesses.

Reporter: What personal items are you bringing along to the TDF?

Bakelants: Definitely a packet of condoms. You never know where those podium hostesses are hanging out.
