Identifying a early 2000s trek 5000 series

Hi I received a lot of helpful info in my last post. I'm looking at another bike which is advertised as a carbon fiber trek bike. However, the frame doesn't state the model, but is labeled as OCLV carbon 120. I looked through the trek archives and the frame looks like it's a 5000/5200/5500. But the paint/color doesn't match any of the color schemes used by trek. Does anyone know whether this whether this is a 5000, 5200 or 5500 and what year it might be? It looks to be in good condition, though I know for carbon frame it is on the older side. Could someone help with a picture assist again?

Without a pic its hard to know which it is. The 120 carbon was the higher quality for a number of years and the 110 the lower end though really you won't find much difference between the frames. Not certain the 5000 ever came in 120 but the 5200 did so probably a 5200 or 5500 and either way you won't go wrong.

I can't speak to the "quality" issue but the 110 was found on the Superlight model while the heavier 120 was found on the other models. The 110 was the lighter weave.

Thanks, that's good to know so it sounds like it's probably a 5200/5500 then. I've attached pictures below of the bike.

It looks like it could be a 2001 5500 in "Red Carbon". Where is the bike located and how much do they want for it. There isn't a lot on that bike that is original and it is probably a 58 or 60cm frame. Due to it being such a mash up of parts I'd be looking at about $300 for such an old frame. The chain was not sized correctly and it appears to have a long cage RD which I'm not sure it needs. What I'm trying to say is that someone took a pretty nice frame and replaced almost everything without a lot of thought. This makes me wonder how well they actually took care of the frame i.e. possible damage.

It's located in Hamilton I also noticed they replaced the Ultegra group set with a 105 group set. It's listed for 1k but he agreed to 700. Which I still think is too steep after having done some research.

Yep, too much is my call too. First off that came with Dura Ace, not Ultegra. The 5200 was the Ultegra version.

As a comparison, I picked up a 2001 5200 last month with all the original Ultegra parts in really good shape. Mine is the triple version and even had the original Rolf Wheels. Well taken care of as there's hardly any marks on the components. Needed new bearings in the headset and the large chainring shows some wear. I paid $400 and probably could have gone lower with the seller.

How I picked it up.
