Finally got my ebike parts moved over to my mountain bike. This was the bike I have been planning on making electric for awhile. Now that the battery box is small enough to mount onto the rear seat rack and the new lithium battery being light enough for it, this bike is now my primary bike. The old bike was just a place holder so that I had something ride able while I saved up to get the new battery and such.



The motor seems able to push this bike along better then the old one. I'm guessing because of the smaller wheels (these are 26 inch wheels instead of 700c) and that it's actually slightly lighter in weight then the old bike. It goes just as fast and now that it's able to handle 2nd gear better, it goes faster then the old bike did.

This bike is much more fun to ride and the suspension makes a world of difference. Especially once it goes up to the 23-25MPH range. Pot holes and dips don't scare me anymore and the battery box is mounted above the suspension thus it isn't exposed to as much bumps and vibration.

My trike is getting near 100 miles a week on it for pennys. It does 22 or more on just the front hub motor from ampedbikes.com. This design was inspired by atomiczombie.com. The rear end, seat and handle bars are from a Retrike. This creation was built by Tom Sluwka of Eagle Metal Works. All upgraded bearings and tires. Now with twice the range from double the batteries.

The delta design is fast and comfortable.

Hello everyone. This is my trike.
It's a Wes Mason custom racer trike, modified with a city-e-cycles "Conqueror" conversion kit.
It's a 1000watt 48volt motor with a li-ion 17amp battery.
Top speed 25mph
Range 40-45 miles.

It's tempramental and the wiring is cheap, but I like it.
I had to strengthen the forks to cope with the motor and swap handlebars for the throttle.. It weighs 35kg and I weigh 65kg making it 100kg.


I was struck by how similar it is to the very first image in this string from sianelle. . .


Not quite as classy, but we have the same horn and everything!

This trike also has a tow bar. The trailer takes my ruck sack, which means it's the E-bike equivalent of a motor home! If ever you're in the Scottish Highlands, you may see it chained to a gate in the middle of nowhere. I'll be camped nearby.

Updated the bike- new cranks, old xt drivetrain, hyperglide cassette. I love this thing.

Nest step is to get the controller on the seattube bottle bosses and the battery on the bosses on the bottom of the DT. Weatherproofing is going to be tough, but the weight distribution and clean look will be worth it.

Here's mine.
A Giant Twist with a Panasonic mid-drive and a Xtra-Cycle longtail extension. It makes a great cargo hauler.
The sidecar is made from a Burley Flatbed trailer. It takes just a moment to convert it from a trailer to a sidecar and back.

Built my extrabike 4 years ago and today I turned it into an Extrabike... 36V Crystalyte 400 series gives the bike a little boost and the all wheel drive in the snow is totally awesome.

The lead acid / gel batteries are better suited for warmer weather so will be looking to upcycle some Prius batteries to serve me better in the winter although the performance was still really decent over 10 km at -10C in the snow.

Is this the bike with the Biopace ringset? I've just started looking into Ebikes, and wondering what kind of range to expect. This bike is very high on my "like" list!

Yep... it has Biopace chain rings on a Deore crank which really helps the knees when the load is high and the hills are steeper.

The motor has just the right torque to give me a little boost when I need it and is really low drag when it is not under power... an extra 50 pounds on this bike actually makes it ride better... other folks who are bigger than me might want a 48V system.

Will see what kind of range I can get although our lower winter temps are going to cut into that.

Birthday present for my Pops, turning 78 here in a few days. Overall review: Positive. Works great, assembled as you'd expect, everything worked the first time. I did place one call to e-bikekit.com tech support, which was quickly and well answered, turned out to be a cable not quite plugged all the way.

I assembled it at my place then delivered it to Pop tonight. The motor is powerful, it'll spin the front tire on pavement. The trike CG is high, so it can definitely get tippy. He liked it. Commented that it's actually pretty easy to pedal, which it is. Geared pretty low, perfect for bike path cruising and grocery runs.

Very happy with the trike and power system.

Critiques:
- Worksman's manuals are basic but adequate for a home bike mechanic enthusiast. Might befuddle the less mechanical customers. The assembly was painless, which is a positive thing. American made.
- The motor system is labeled by e-bikekit.com, and there were no manuals at all. So I checked their website which was screen-printed on the battery bag. No prob for me, but again, a small nit.
- It's not a racing bike. Stainless steel parts are shiny, durable and reliable but not lightweight.
- The tires are of good quality and arrived with proper inflation already in them, mounted correctly! Major positive to Worksman for that.
- Wheels are tight, straight and true.
- Overall as I said, it seems to be a very well-built and reliable bike, when used within it's limitations.
