A little stiff but not in bad shape considering the age!

I’ll definitely take a look at the axle cones for dates as well.
Btw the BB shell does have some markings but I’m unable to identify it due to wear but I’ll snap a picture to be sure.

MY ERROR!

you mentioned the Brampton of France drive chain in your initial post

these are prized by vintage enthusiasts in-the-know; especially fine are the caramel coloured ones

BTW -

this manufacturer was also a producer of pedals

advert of 1926 -

---

wrt your stem and bar questions -

the stem looks like an unstamped Cinelli to my eye as well

Titan brand bars are typically 27.0mm at the centre

if the stem is indeed Cinelli one would expect it to have a clamp size of 26.4mm

My first thought is the fork crown is a variant of the Vagner PL used on Allegros built for the road, but a Pista-specific version for the round fork blades - but I will defer to Juvela if he thinks it's a Georg Fischer product!

Wonderful vintage ad for the Brampton pedals, stuff like that just makes me smile haha
Thank you for the insight!

The bars do have a part of the original decal remaining but I’m having difficulty identifying the manufacturer

Hmm. I need to check thoroughly, however, there doesn’t seem to be any markings on the underside of the crown. I need to remove the fork and check the steer tube for markings next. Cheers

Once owned an Allegro road bike, serial number 200000 that had the same chrome /paint treatment. Believe it was the same color also.
Have had many Allegros pass thru my hands over the years. Still own about ten.

Here you can see the polished area contrast against the contaminated 60 year old paint

Woo-hoo!

Hen's teeth me lad, hen's teeth!

There was roughly a one-year period in the early 1960's when Tullio produced all of the Record series bottom bracket fittings in a version for 3/16" ball.

They made absolutely everything available in 3/16" ball: road, track, triple, 68mm, 70mm...and even 74mm!

Have in me archives a 3/16" ball Record bottom bracket spindle for 3X and 74mm shell, NOS.

Haha I had no idea. Thats really great information! I’ll do some digging into Tullio! Cheers

*I wonder if this dates my Allegro 1963 rather than 62 or if the BB was changed out later but considering they only made them for one year I doubt it 🤔

forgot to mention in me post that all such bottom bracket fittings are marked "Con Sfere Da 3/16" "

our many Campag experts will be along to put right any error(s) on me part and provide more and better information on this...

one possibility which would keep your dating correct is that the frame may have been sold separately and built into a complete cycle by a retailer or consumer

do not wish to assert that this is the case; mention it only as a possibility for you to consider

framesets of this marque were sold bare as well as complete machines

Great, It does have the Con Sfere Da markings on the BB 👍🏼
I was unaware that they sold these frame sets along with completes. Makes me wonder in this particular case, how it was spec’d all Campagnolo

All-wheel drive and a warranty. The additional 100+ hp is nice too…

no worries!

do not recognize it so field wide open from here

only mentioned Georg Fischer because the manufacturer made extensive employment of the Georg Fischer shell

Fischer well known for track crowns

do not recall seeing any Vagner crowns with sockets for round track blades which certainly does not mean that none exist

perhaps some of our framebuilder members shall drop in to share some of their light...

I'm inclined to say yes, 1963 - and the serial number falls between two bikes dated by date codes on hub lockrings, no. 179365 from 1961 and no. 190932 dated 1965. Put that together with the one-year-only BB variant and yes, 1963.
