1961-62 Allegro Special Pista

The blue one I found out here in Encino near the Velodrome many yrs ago from the original owner. I can't remember the year he said though. Now in a collection with my friend in Seattle but he's selling his collection.
The white "Allegro Special" is Kemp's old bike. I took some photos of it over at a friends house here in Southern CA.

Just recently picked up a frame here in North Hollywood area and looked in the bottom bracket to see a card or something used as a gasket(?). The guy who owned the frame since the 70's said he never noticed it and it was there the whole 40 yrs or so.
It was related to Kemp's shop and Allegro. Photos added

Right! I also assumed the same thing. I still need to check the hub locknuts I keep forgetting to do so.

small detail, but doesn't look like the DS crank has had the sharp edges (from top of arm to the spider) smoothed out to eliminate the notorious "stress risers" that can lead to cracking.
I'd reco you do that, it doesn't take long with a few files, I find the kind sold for chainsaw sharpening followed by a good needle file is all I needed.
Most rat-tail files are too big a diameter for the job, IMO.
If you have never done it, I'm sure someone here has shared a "how-to" post if you search the archives. Never a 100% guarantee that a given Campy crank won't crack afterwards, but it's cheap insurance FWIW.

That white Allegro is stunning.
Haha thats just amazing… An old business card hidden in the BB 😆
this Allegro I’m currently working on was sold through the same Encino shop (Kemp’s) as related to me by the original owner’s son.
Im loving all the old history. Thanks for sharing! 🍺

Very likely sold by Bob Kemp at Village Cycles in North Hollywood. They were a direct Allegro importer. Fantastic paint condition for a 60 year old bike--WAY cool!

So the local deal for the Campy track wheels might not go through, seller has been unresponsive.
I might just have to bite the bullet and build my own wheels (its been a while). I have the original rear wheel so technically I just need a front. There are a few on ebay but I don’t want to run mismatched however. 🤔
*I do have a modern pair of sealed bearing Novatech track wheels, high polished hoops/hubs but they’re obviously not era-correct. Not “skinny” enough. We’ll see.

looks like the Neuchatel volk even did some nice finish work on the Georg Fischer sand cast shell
"usually" they yet exhibit some pebble grain from the casting beneath the paint
fine job bringing back the distinctive Way-Assauto/NICHROM seat binder; in the "as found" images it is a uniform brown
Conours Ready!
