Russ, don't know if you read the "BikeSnobNYC", blog, but he was at the race with his son, and appears to have posted a pic of your son's bike.https://bikesnobnyc.com/2022/07/26/w...th/#more-11451

Hadn't seen his blog, but we chatted during the wait for the kids to race. I also took a pic of the two bikes in the wild together. I didn't recognize him but I did his son, he's on the same team, Star Track, as my two kids. I expect we'll meet again on Fri if his kid is racing track nats, my oldest is in the 11-12 girls group and I'm hoping she'll podium this year. Got 8th last year, and all but two of the faster kids have aged into the next category while she's a lot faster this year.

Saturday 23 July went west on Jericho Turnpike, north on Francis Lewis Boulevard, and west again on Hillside

Wednesday 27 July

Bayville, coming out of the IGA parking lot.

Jose from the Landing showed me his new ebike

Planting Fields Road

Late post, rode Bayville Oyster Bay circuit, stopped at IGA to purchase paper goods. Have bought tubeless rim tape so no more blowouts from that spoke hole.
Landscaped Horse Hollow Road , Bayville Road, and Chicken Valley Road, I’m running out of roadside vegetation.

Queens Boulevard Bike Lane

Moynihan Train Hall

Woodside

29 miles yesterday. From my house to Forest Park, Myrtle Avenue, to Woodside. No eastbound service from Woodside, had to go to Penn. Rather than waste the free ride, went to 39th street and back to Penn. Forced to take Hempstead train to Garden city and ride three miles to East Williston ( bike cannot go aboard bus) . Ate two slices of pizza at East Williston, waited an hour for the train home.

Almost got hit by a white Lexus crossing Linden heading south.

You can't miss it, it had a bumper sticker that said "watch for motorcycles" on the back.

A nice week of beach and bike on the East End. I brought a road "half bike" but didn't use it as we got out on the tandem every day which was great. Nice weather every day but VERY high humidity.

Lighthouse needs a paint job.

Nice group of about 8 to Port Washington. Great weather continues!

We took a short 22 miler up and down the Bethpage MUP last evening and saw no fewer than 3 people pushing, not pedaling, but PUSHING, their dead e-fauxbikes. SMH.

Transportation of Office Furniture

Office chair to be assembled

Carried an office chair to assemble at my place

Been busy past two weeks, but got a ride in today to pick up an office chair in a box, which I’m going to assemble.

Bethpage trail crossing at the traffic circle. Surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Didn't stop for details, but 2 state troopers, 2 EMTs and 1 ambulance.

That's currently scheduled for June 2023 to ensure optimal conditions for curing.

Good to know and thanks for the update. I plan on riding out there from home again when the weather cools.

It's a great destination to ride to in the fall, except when that gradually increasing tail wind that was so nice on the ride out turns into a 20+ headwind and the rain starts for the hilly 6 miles back into town to meet up with friends after the ride. I had that happen several years back on what started as a lovely November day that a friend and I rode out there. Still a nice ride, but I gladly accepted the offer of being driven back rather than riding home in those conditions.

Been there and done that! I'd like to do a ride out in the fall and utilize the "bike hostel" at Montauk County Park for an overnight camp.

To Mineola and back today. Most notable thing about the ride was the washout on Bryant Avenue in Roslyn.

Substantial subsidence on Bryant Avenue Do not ride behind the road cones.

We took off for a week to the west end of the country and brought the bikes along for some great rides.

Step one was bringing the bikes and making things compact, this little trailer was fun to build and worked perfectly, here it is hanging out in Yellowstone. Holds 5 bikes, could fit 6 if needed along with all the luggage leaving the car free for the kids to stretch out for the long drives.

We took a detour to see the High Trestle Bridge in Iowa, its a sight worth seeing.

At 20 stories above the valley it really is high and over a mile long making the actual ride really impressive and worth the extra hours that were added.

In Custer, SD we hopped on the Mickelson trail in Custer, SD. With 8 miles of steady uphill we reached the Crazy Horse carving which had a serious climb to reach the gate of. Unfortunately they had a stupid rule that bikes cost 10.00 each to enter with no exception for kids while a car was 15.00 to enter, we turned around and went back to Custer. The trail is pay to ride, 4.00 per adult, kids under 12 free and you pay at any number of spots. Totally worth it, while cinder, it was in great shape the whole way and covers 110 miles one way. Due to the steady climb most users were on ebikes.

In Missoula the military museum had a great coverage of early bike packers, they had a pre-WWI bicycle military unit that had some impressive accomplishments.

The final ride, we did the Coeur D'Alene trail and had a close up with a moose and her baby which were maybe 20 feet away, we stayed on the trail and didn't approach to avoid spooking them. Overall some nice rides and good times.
