I've had 8 cats living with me over 40 years, have had to put down 7. In the more recent years, when I knew we were getting close, usually a cat with cancer, we were closely paying attention to what I call "messages" from the cat. After 12-14 years, you know their behavior well and can take a good guess at what they want. My wife and I actually came to the same conclusion that Zoey was suffering, besides being mostly unable to use her tongue due to a mouth cancer, she was jumping on my chest all day, meowing at me and had my wife awake all night, same thing. Another cat sat on my chest for many hours, staring at me, something he had never done. Other cats have hidden in the basement, also unusual behavior. Its still an awful decision and I ask myself "who made you God ?". We were really hoping that 21 yr. old Zoey would go in her sleep, saving us the Impossible Choice. Didn't get that choice.

Being very loving can be a sign they are feeling a unique stress.

A little different, but my cats have decided that they should have their litter of kittens on top of me (but eventually they decide to hide them).

More much-needed joy around this household:

The expecting queen that we rescued from the same location as Nala has dropped five little nuggets. Sadly, one of them was stillborn. Thing is, amid all the excitement and anticipation, we just realized that we forgot to give her a name!

Not quite big enough to go outside yet: 28 days from seed

Going to be planted outside the kitchen window but under some wire protection so kittys can't kill it too fast.

If you don't know what it is ask a kitty

Mango turned 11 a couple months back. He’s slowing down and spending more time on the old armchair. It was my grandmother’s, my mom reupholstered it, and our previous pair of cats customized it.

Mango and his brother Pumpkin were named for a Bike Forums moderator whose screen name was MangoPumpkin. I don’t know if he/she/they is still around but if so: your name-children are healthy and happy.

Max has had this and the bedroom perches for about two(2) years and has just recently, as far as I now, started using this one! I did, some time ago, sprinkle some nip in the boxes so maybe it took awhile for him to feel comfortable in that space…

I bought this for him about a month or so ago… He won’t use it even after liberal doses of nip! He has sat on the top and laid on the bottom a couple of times… He will not use the scratching elements of it! I think that he thinks that it’s furniture! I worn my nails down to nubs showing him that it’s OK to scratch it!

have not before seen a cat toy/piece of furniture such as the black inverted U in the photo

are those bristles we see?

how is it to be employed?

perhaps something to rub up against & through?
