Vintage Trek website
Trek reached out to me and offered any assistance I need to get a vintage trek website back up. Thanks for any support and shortly check out vintagetrekbicycles.com

hi this Mark, I have been in this forum much longer under a different name. I run Vintage Trek Bicycles on Facebook with about 4500 members since 2009. My goal is to initially get my domain up and running (vintagetrekbicycles.com) with Information provided by Skips page. Then add a community board with regional threads where locals can meet and set up rides, tech threads, classifieds etc much like like this fantastic forum. It will be a work in progress for a while. Obviously we will give Skip credit for all his hard work setting up his site. He was my inspiration for setting up my Facebook page. Any suggestions please chime in. Thanks for your feedback

Fascinating. Are they giving you editorial control or is this going to be hagiography? If the latter are you getting access? Are you going past the steel era? Dealing with racing history or just helping people with their bike-store bikes? Doing other social media?

VintageTrek / Mark: one thought would be to secure the old vintage-trek domain name if/when it becomes available for sale, and have it automatically redirect to the 'new' vintage trek website being created.
that way, hopefully in some way, if someone clicks on a link to the vintage-trek website that have been posted over the years and on who knows how many different web pages and forums, they would get to the new site and would not just go to a dead / invalid error page.

Thanks for your efforts in straightening things out. 👍 And especially, thanks for acknowledging Skip's previous work. A lot of folks these days might not even bother with that. 😒

let’s pray he is ok but even his business site is down. I even tried reaching out to his immediate family but no bueno. I’m excited that Trek reached out. It appears they are proud of their legacy and like having a community for us Guys with their old bikes. 😁

Hi there. This is great news. I don't currently own a Trek but have had 3 throughout my cycling life. I always have liked them as a company and now to hear that they are supportive of keeping a old web site going about old bikes is great news. I think it really speaks good work ethos for the company. It is really good to see this when most companies want you to buy the latest and greatest and don't care about what was last year. You never know buy supporting this it may drive someone to buy a new Trek to go along with their C&V Trek.

i was pretty excited as well, Trek has an amazing heritage and it’s hard to believe a little company that started in a barn in Wisconsin has become the large company today.
also I’ve seen I have a couple of messages waiting for me. I think I have to hit a certain number of posts to reply. So sorry not ignoring anyone. Thanks also for your patience, we are working build a quality site.

I only have one Trek in my collection and knew nothing about the Vintage Trek website until I stumbled on to the bike. I bought a car from a car lot (new) and one requirement was that I could fit a bike in it. After I chose the car that would best suit my needs, the salesman said “ so you have vintage road bikes, do you want my old Trek?”. It turns out he bought a new blue Trek 600 back in 1985 and got in a serious car accident days later with major back injury. The bike never got ridden, it was like NOS. After he gave it to me I looked up the serial # on the website and also cruised the original print ad. Unfortunately the bike is too small so my son in law rides it ( it is his as far as I’m concerned), but I store it with my collection. The website is very helpful and I learned a lot about the US Treks in the process.
