I've worked on bikes for over forty years and have tools to do anything, including headsets and bottom brackets up to about the time of press fit bottom brackets. After that, BBs had to go to the LBS if creaking set in. Now, I've added hydraulic brakes to my LBS trips. Then, I buy a 2022 bike with Force eTap and it comes with all of these adjustment gizmos. I figure my wrenching abilities have been reduce to putting air in the tires. 
May as well refresh the drivetrain and pick up a couple tires for it. And rotors, the rear is thin again and the front is original. The road bikes need a little cash infusion, as well. And the tires on the car are almost 9 years old.
I should start buying lottery tickets.

I think its possible that in a big field and a tight, dog-leggy, start like SydHob, a very fast boat could capitalize on clean air and leg out to a significant early lead, which might matter in such a short race sailed under fast conditions. For the rest of us slobs in 7KSBs on longer races, its just ego and nerves.
Once it hit the mark, though, it was likely a good decision to spin.
Looked like it was a fun ride!

I've been chasing a creaking noise in the rear wheel of my road bike for a long time. It's definitely something in the rear hub area (Powertap hub, Enve 3.4 wheel). It's not the cassette. It's not the freehub pawls. It's not the spokes. I found some discussion about the Powertap hub and people commented about issues with the outboard freehub bearing going bad. I have purchased a pair of freehub bearings and bearing press tool, and will be attempting to do the replacement tomorrow (there's a good YouTube video for a guide). I would replace the hub bearings, too, but I found some comments that removal of those bearings by a home mechanic can damage the torque tube that is the critical piece for power measurement, and is best left for factory service. If the freehub bearing replacement doesn't fix the issue, I may look at making the move to a new wheelset I like the Powertap hub, but I am also coming to an understanding of why it has disappeared from the market.

Watching the start, it surprised me that Andoo hit the mark. While the other boat on port probably should have given way a bit, it looked like Andoo had plenty of space to fall off and then come back up. A loss of a couple of lengths and flying the flag would have been a lot better than doing circles. And, yet, it still won.
Once it hit the mark, though, it was likely a good decision to spin.

I haven't ever been onboard WildOats, but on Comanche, the buttons at the helm position control the keel position. It has been a few years since I was aboard, but I think there is an "all the way to port" and "all the way to starboard" button that you push once and the boat does it. Then there are a pair of "move to port" and "move to starboard" buttons that you can use to adjust the canting keel. The goal is to heel the boat just enough to leeward that a big part of the windward hull is out of the water. Both Comanche and LawConnect want to be heeled at least around 15°(as I recall). When those boats sit flat on the water they are amazingly slow. By contrast, both BlackJack and WildOats have far narrow hulls and don't have the chopped-off transom that causes drag in the water at the stern. That makes them MUCH faster in light air. You would not believe how slowly Comanche powers with a pretty large engine. The drag is immense.
As to the verbal activities of the WildOats skipper, he's legendary for yelling at his crew and ordering them about. Over the years he has clearly done well with the boat, but he also cost them the win when he tried to lee-bow Comanche and fouled a few years ago. You could see and hear him arguing with his massively more experienced America's Cup skipper (Ian Murry?) about doing his penalty turns. He finally did them, but I believe he had to be reminded how poorly his decision a few years earlier had gone. There are a lot of folks who don't like his style, but he's certainly good at ocean racing WildOats. You don't see him sailing other boats much, if at all.

I have never been on a maxi. The largest mono I've sailed was 40'. The largest cat was 52'. Largest racing boat has been 36'. Would love a ride on one of the big racers.

It's one of those things I wanted to do, and now that it's done, I thin that'll be enough for the entire rest of my life!
As for how it feels - it's a lot firmer, and smaller diameter than the Cinelli cork tape it replaced! But maybe more padded than the cloth tape that was prevalent then. I should have taken it out the other day, when it was clear, but the leather was still wet. Now I have to wait till it's dry out again, and I have no idea when that will be!

Me neither; me too. The fastest thing I've ever raced on was a J/120 and that was just about right for my level of skill and sphincter control. I was once invited to do a practice on this:

The craziest boat I ever sailed on was an E-Scow when I lived in IL. Small boards and rudders, draft (w/o appendiges) of a couple inches, and a very large amount of sail cloth.
Unfortunately, I've never lived anyplace where bigger boats or fast keelboats (other than sport boats) were sailed.

Stopped by trek to pick up a sweater I ordered. They have an olive green sweater and a blue sweater. Wife got me the olive green sweater for my birthday and I absolutely loved it so I ordered the blue one.
While there I asked them about routing the cables for my new bars. Sounds like a Fin nightmare for the cervelo. So as soon as I get the mini van back ill run both bikes over.
I picked up new tape today, blender system, lube and 4 tubes. Proline bontrager black on blue for the ritchey and just gel cork for the cervelo. Kept it orange.
