Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oooh, the pickup collision is on tape - about 5:00, still don't know why the tunnel is closed. Seems like they could put up a gate to keep people off that active rail line. Maybe they say in the video but I've got tunes on now, so not gonna watch the whole thing yet.

Got to ride The Lance tonight. Only for a couple pedal strokes. The tires are rubbing the frame. Not noticeable in the stand but once on the bike it’s obvious. I’ll put the mavics on tomorrow. I cut the rear brake housing to short. I did a steering check but not with it taped so I’ll have to pull that out and add about half an inch.

The front derailer worries me. I watched a video on micro shift but it was a double not a triple and mine looks different. It has a “roller” on the back side. Is the cable supposed to go over that or under it?

The super team skewers suck, or not computable with this fork. I tighten it and when I go to clamp it’s tight semi hard to close but once it’s closed the front wheel is still loose. Almost like once closed the clamp gives a little. I’m saying clamp I mean quick release.

Took the emonda out again tonight. Traffic was light but the few cars that did pass let me know they didn’t want me there. That was a little frustrating. Barely any traffic and four lane roads and people still felt the need to pass close. Set out to do 50 but the wife called 8 miles in and needed me to run to the pharmacy. From the location I was at it took me 17 miles to get home. Shorter routes to get home but one is through a park that is pitch black. The other roads are sketchy and with the close calls already didn’t want to do that.

Anyways got home and she was asleep. Went to the pharmacy anyways, but at this point I cut the ride short for no reason.

I was wearing my castelli alpha jacket. I had the front unzipped but the inner layer zipped up. It’s amazing how much drag this created. It slowed me wayyyy down.

I might have to put a shorter stem on The Lance. Current set up matches my other bikes. 27 inches from Sit point on the seat to the stem/ bar clamp but in this case it might be too stretched. Will figure that out tomorrow.

“When do you think they’ll let us go outside, again?”

” Probably not until the salt is gone off of the roads.”

”When is that?”

”Probably when a big rain washes it away.”

”So, when?”

”Maybe middle of March.”

I had to use Google to figure out Sonny's last name.

The censor is quite stupid when it comes to context. Can we put in for an AI censor??

I want to state this for the record - I did not go to TCU. My wife did, and she's embarrassed.

Nonetheless, I love my wife and will do my best to support her thru this.

Thats all.

After all this time marinating in crabon bikes, they no longer look like BSOs to me, and I might actually bring myself to ride one. But what I can't do is bring myself to pay two or more thousand dollars for a bike.

The all-day was supposed to start 50 minutes ago. They left the woman who hosts the webex at the hotel, and allegedly sent out a new one that no one has. Twiddling thumbs. This is on the border of hilarious and tragic.

She shouldn't be. TCU making it to the championship is amazing. It's a "big boys" sport.

On BikeForums, I noticed with my new iPhone that sometimes the youtube embedded links show up, but oftentimes they are missing. It's quirky and unpredictable, so sometimes the link will show in a posting and then later it won't.....or vice-versa. Seems kinda random.

Anyone else notice this? No problem on my desktop running Chrome.

Bam, check to see if the axel are protruding beyond the fork blades. The quick release would be tightening on the axel and not the dropouts.

This is happening to me too, but I couldn’t tell if it was the update or any of the ad blockers I’m running. It seemed to happen within the last month though.
