Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was cloudy and chilly and basically a perfect day for it. 64 miles and 4000 feet and I felt better than I thought I would.

We stopped to eat and I had 4 pancakes for $10. Seemed a little high but they were tasty. If it's not raining in the morning maybe I'll get a little spin in.
That calls for some coffee, I can't wait to have some with breakfast tomorrow. Might have oatmeal with raisins, brown sugar and Cinnamon.

I'm brewing some right now. I'm drinking mostly decaf these days, just 3-4 cups a week with caffeine.

This stuff is so tasty, I don't even care about caffeine anymore.

I should probably have oatmeal in the morning, it's been a while. Gonna go with chopped dates, raisins, walnuts, cinnamon and ginseng. No sugar - put enough dates in there and sugar is unnecessary.

entire or most of the leg - or just lower leg near the shins ?

if swelling is primarily lower leg near shins could be ‘compartment syndrome’ ... ischemia ... ?

My left thigh has always been slightly larger than my right, but below the knee was symmetrical.
Doctor checked me out as a kid and thought that it might be because my spine was slightly rotated, I am also a lefty so tend to favor my left side.

About 7 years ago now, I was wearing sandles at Thanks Giving and I remember looking down and my left foot was massively swollen. This was the first time I noticed it. For about 2 years maybe 3 it was not very consistent. I didn’t think much of it. I also had other issues going on, so that was the least of my concerns. Once I got healthy again, and lost 100 pounds of weight, I started to notice it was swelling everyday. The whole leg. That’s when I started to go to the doctor. The doctor couldn’t tell me why. She thought maybe lymphoedema, but she was shocked I was cycling and that the swelling was going away at night and that it really wasn’t affecting me. I mean, I don’t even know it’s swollen if I don’t look at it.
Typically the swelling is gone by the morning. When I am at work I wear a compression sock. When I am home in the past, I could go 3-4 days without wearing one before the swelling would start to become an issue.

So at this point in my life, my entire left leg will swell, and at any given point is slightly larger than my right.
I just wish I knew what caused it, and could prevent it from happening.

It's complicated. Spot and Max are besties. Hotdog has that low growl if anyone gets too close, myself included. Spot and Quinto have a long history of not seeing eye to eye. Hotdog and Max are siblings, so says the vet. They arrived together one day, in bad shape.

My doc has limited me to two espressos a day so the rest of the day, I drink decaf espresso which to be honest, I prefer. I have no idea why I pull regular beans anymore.

Saturday mornings for me is a simple bacon, egg & cheese sammich on Heidelberg Multigrain bread. To die for! Quality bread adds so much to ANY sammich.
