The actual hardware should make very little difference, it’s just a metal surface where the (nonexistent) articular cartilage was. What really made the leg longer was the correcting the deformity she was walking around on, the poor woman.

Ritchey started clicking/ tapping today while pedaling. Only seemed to do it 140 watts and above with a cadence of 80 or above.
Really pissed me off. I kept stopping and checking everything. I can’t figure it out. Nothing is loose, went over the whole bike with a torque wrench.
The only thing it bike be, is my left leg rubbing against the rear brake cable cause the cable to hit the top tube. I held the cable and could still hear the noise, and the sound, didn’t sound like it came from there.

Valve replacement for endocarditis is pretty grim. I learned far too much neurology from that scenario, but that was back in the dark ages when they were probably not as good at it and all the patients were IV drug abusers. He's young and, I expect, otherwise healthy and I have every hope he'll be fine.
