Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's hard to remember it's winter. If I were still riding there would be a lot of mornings I'd be able to go outdoors. It's freaky.

Nearly every morning this winter has been okay. I can’t wait for march when the sun hits at 6 only to have it ripped away by DST

As a morning rider, I hate DST

As an afternoon rider, I can't wait for DST! I used to ride mornings, but it's a problem when you're the West Coast outpost of an East Coast company - they always want to hold meetings at convenient times for them, not for me.

I could totally live with a 5-2 schedule. We’re early birds anyway. Then I guess I’d be an afternoon rider.

I always get hammered with meeting from 4:30-5:30 because that’s when it is convenient for everyone else (and me)

Fever is back. I feel like ****, am bored out of my mind and can’t smell or taste anything. I’m really mad I kept putting off the bivalent booster- probably never would have gotten sick like all of my other close exposures.

I guess one positive is the lack of appetite will help me drop a few LBs closer to target weight?

As crappy as they make me feel, I want all the shots I can get. Only delay them if I'm doing a trip at roughly the same time to get maximum effectiveness then.

Not me. I'm a confirmed night owl. I've always been that way, but the problem now is that as I've gotten older, it's harder for me to sleep in past 8 AM. My 13 year old Greyhound is even worse that way now. He seems to have "Old Man Bladder".

Another positive is you are VERY unlikely to get it again in the next 6 months or so. Beyond that, not so much.

Hope you feel better soon!

Donuts ride was a success. We all stayed together and kept the effort moderate. It was cold and grey and windy, but even so, a joyous ride.

Covid? My wife and I each had the strangest colds we've ever had. We didn't bother to test, having a single at home test here in the house. And frankly it never occurred to (first) me, and later her until after both had passed very quickly and without some normal cold symptoms.

I couldn’t get it when I got my flu shot, then just didn’t want to lose a day feeling sick. Live and learn

At 25, sleeping in used to be 11 AM. Now, it's more like 8:30. I actually slept in till 9:30 recently and felt SO decadent!

I was looking at the donut shop pic and couldn't help wondering what in the heck was the bike on the far left. Could only see half of it.

My sleep schedule has some how ended up on dairy milking time. I used to ask my grandpa why he went to bed at 8-8:30 and he'd reply, "Cows don't milk themselves."

I appreciate the assist last week, but I can't return the favor tomorrow night my friend.

Eagles did deny Brady one ring too, mind...

But only the one!

I’ve heard only good things about Pactimo. I should try them the next time I need something. Of course I say that about Assos and Rapha too.

Speaking of Rapha, I bought several of the tech shirts that are on sale right now. And a sweatshirt. They are damn comfortable and fit me well. But I don’t have any of their bibs or jerseys…
