Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wanted to run in these when I got them.

Well, I went to the basement to Zwift away. Something simple just to keep moving (Casse-Pattes) because I was feeling off when I woke up. I went to the gym this morning and got a weak 750Ms in the pool. Slow, bad form, etc.

I got on the bike and made it half a mile before my body gave me a dope slap. Sometimes you just need to start a workout to get in the right mindset. Tonight was not one of those nights.

I’m now enjoying a wonderful porter and am going to have a bowl of Half Baked, then go to bed early.

She THINKS she means for shopping and such, but my almost 48 years of experience with her tells me she won't really go out on foot to shop.

What she's really concerned about is having a good friend close by. She's afraid to move anywhere where she doesn't already know someone, even if they haven't been in touch much in years.

I still stare at and admire bikes I've had for >25 years. Is it the SOLE thing that motivates me? No. But on any given Saturday, I find myself thinking about the bike I'm going to ride, going down to the garage to get it ready, often just looking at it for a bit, then thinking about riding it the next day. Sure, it's an inanimate object with no soul of its own and only that soul which we put into it. Cripes, more than once I've gotten back from a particularly satisfying ride, and after I put the bike away I pat it and tell it "Good job!"

And I'll bet I'm not the only one here who's like that.

I forgot how many work-of-art bikes are in that video, what with all the other nice scenery

Mostly turkey lever action but still nice.

It's amazing how often that happens.

Nice. I'd have to drive the bike over closer to hills to pull that off.

When a new model or new engine comes out you have no data base, no experience with it, so the guessing is wilder. When e-cars came out it was a new can of worms.

I'm not talking about something that's doing it when you check it. I told my coworkers if you can duplicate the problem it's child's play. Relatively speaking, of course.
Sort of on topic. I took the Fit into the dealership because the accelerator was wonky. Sometimes it would leap forward and other times it wouldn't move at all(the car) The mechanic got in, shotgun, to go for a ride. I put it in reverse and we didn't move two feet, and he had something to go on. End of test drive. It was a sticky butterfly in the carb. Gunked up from our dirty Mexican gas. No way to avoid it.

Throttle body has a butterfly valve in it that's reminiscent of carbs, but no fuel goes in the throttle body, just air.

Did not hear anything on my appeal of the insurance company denying coverage of my lumbar fusion surgery. Not surprising. Of course if I don't hear anything tomorrow it makes me wonder if I should go to my pre op appointment Monday at 9 AM. I'm so sick of this BS.

Ah, yeah... carburetors have been obsolete since... not that long after I was born. Too dirty and inefficient.

Hey, bampilot06 , can you fly with no arms?

Arizona native Jessica Cox will be the grand marshal for the 2023 Tucson Rodeo Parade. Cox, who was born in Sierra Vista, is the world’s first licensed armless pilot. She has a black belt in Taekwondo, a cyclist and author.

I just picked up the Kinarva 13s too! This is my first foray into Sauconys and if the Kinarvas are as good as the Endorphin Speed 3s, I’ll be very happy. I’ve been a Brooks person for a while and might still get the new Ghost 15s, but the Sauconys are hitting all the right notes so far.
