Did you miss the long, long thread a few months back, where Timtak was extolling the wonders of his bike position which had ridiculously low bars? He was basically saying all the pros bikes are unaerodynamic.

Oh. no. In fact I went to Trek yesterday to pick up the bontrager elite stem with 17 degrees of drop and that looked ridiculous. way too much.
Looking at the Zipp Sprint SL stem now, 12 degrees of drop.

On most bikes, 17 deg puts the stem pretty close to level with the ground. For a road bike, I find that look very appealing...as long as it has minimal to zero spacers underneath.

I don't know about the years and genejocky probably knows all about that stuff but older frames had 126mm spacing which was increased to 130mm at some point. So, my theory is if you have a wheel that was for a 126 frame and put it in a 130 frame you will have to compress the frame with the QR 4 extra mm.
I could be totally out to lunch on this, though.
