Anyone familiar with Project 529?

I'd like to introduce Project 529 to my community, but it would be nice to hear others' experiences first.

I’ve registered all my bikes both on 529 and on bikeindex.org. I’ve never had a bike stolen, so no experience on the recovery side, but my impression is that different jurisdictions will refer to one and not the other.

I did use them once to check if an abandoned bike was registered. It wasn’t and after checking with building management I removed it and recycled it at my local co-op.

I never heard about it until the YouTube algorithm force fed me a video the other day. I posted the video here and it’s from the same guy’s channel you posted. It sounds like a great idea, but all it takes is one bureaucrat to kill the best of ideas.

If you’ve got the heart and determination, I wish you well.
