Ruptured tire, cheap replacements
My Motobecane tire ruptured a while after fully inflating it to around 80 psi.
I checked on Amazon and Walmart.
Which is better, I realize they are not great?

I had Kenda's do the same thing to me-both within 6 months of owning them new. I would try the Wally World blackburn before I ever buy another Kenda tire. If you don't mind ordering tires, try CST, they're supposedly made by Maxxis which have a strong reputation in the ATV world and are comparably priced last time I checked. I've been using Bell Air Guard on my vintage bikes for $20.US from the local hardware store with excellent results against punctures and wear. They are a much heavier tire though. On my newer 700C rims I run nothing but Vittorio tires (the cheap ones) with mixed results, but have never had them break threads like the Kendas. HTH and Goodluck,

I am still sold on the Continental Ride Tour tires 27-1/4 at about 25 USD each. They are for me PROVEN!

Check out Western Bike Works for 27" tires. Amazon third party sellers can be such a rip-off sometimes. The Kenda tires are $20 at Western vs $36 on Amazon. https://www.westernbikeworks.com/search/27in-road-tires At the moment, it looks like they have the Continental and Panaracer Pasela tires in stock as well. I recently purchased the Schwalbe HS159 27 X 1 1/4 tires for a commuter bike. So far, so good.
Funny reading the reviews for different tires, and people complaining about how the tire blew off the rim having only pumped it to 85 PSI. I found this out the hard way years ago. Many older 27" wheels have hookless rims, IE nothing to hold the bead of the tire to the rim other than the pressure itself. The tire may be rated 85, or even 95, but don't go near that pressure if you have hookless rims. I would say 75 max depending on the rim.

Why cheap out on what keeps you on the road, and out of a ditch, provides a better ride and could be either a hazardous or safe ride. Get some Paselas, or those Continentals. I personally like Swift Tire's Sand Canyons.

I used to be a fan of cheap tires, usually opting for Kenda rubber, but learned that better tires are usually rounder, more durable, look just as good or better, and offer better ride quality.

I have a set of Kendas on my wife's bike. Fortunately she only rides her bike the two blocks to the office less than five times a year.

How about Bontrager?
That photo is either a tire defect or road damage... no way that would happen even to a cheap tire based on just pressure.

Good or at least safe, decent tires are so much of the cycling experience... It's not worth trying to save a few bucks on cheap tires that you'll have to keep replacing!
3mm to 5mm of rubber tread and fiber casing are all that's keeping you off the ground.
To throw gasoline on the fire, Quite a few BF members have had less than great things to say about Kenda tires over the last few years. I haven't had much experience riding Kenda tires. Took a lot of them off bikes and wheels that I acquired and threw them out because they were trashed.
You can't go wrong with Pasela, Continental and Schwalbe tires. 27" tires sold these days fall into 2 categories: decent mid range quality and cheap JUNK! What's a few bucks extra if they last for years longer than cheap crappy tires?

Thanks for the recommendations. The ruptured tire blew out like a gun shot in my apartment about a half hour after starting the post, probably woke up the neighbors. The same thing just happened with the innertube just installed with the Blackburn which tells me I have to fix the lining of the tire. Made two trips to Walmart today, because the innertube would not hold air. Got another one inflated to 80 or so psi and rode for 10 plus miles. I get back and kaboom, innertube blew again.
