Seat too high - switch seat post?

My wife wants to sit lower than the lowest setting on her original Suspension Seat Post.

QUESTIONS
1. Would it be ok to switch to a Non Suspension Seat Post?
2. Would having a non suspension allow her a lower setting?
  • Bicycle model: 2020 LIV Flourish FS 1
  • Condition: almost New - rarely used
  • Size: Medium
The suspension seat post has a rubber piece that prevents seat from going lower....

Looking at pics on the web, it does look like you could go lower with a non-susp seatpost. Specs show it to be a 30.9 mm post. But--looking at the pics and the relation of saddle to bars, looks like if it needs to be that low that the bike might be too large? Will she get decent leg extension with the saddle that low? Going too low with too much bend in the legs is not a good thing.

How tall is your wife? Fit guide says a medium fits a range of 5'5" to 6' if she is a lot smaller than that, the bike is too big and there are issues beyond seat height

If she want the seat lower is so that she can put her feet flat on the ground and not get off the saddle when stopped, then the saddle will be way to low for pedaling comfort and efficiency

I would recommend getting a bike that fits. If you have to slam your seatpost that is a good sign the bike is too big. I would also avoid a bike that has a seatpost like that generally, a Thudbuster or Kinekt is a good post but a pogo stick style seatpost is generally not a great sign on a bike however it can be easily replaced.

My wife is 5' 6" so she should be in the range. Also, she is in her 50's and has some health/balance issues.

She says her feet don't need to be flat on the ground , just a bit more......Thanks for your input.

Thanks for looking up the data on the post. I may try another non suspension post as you suggested, and see how the leg extension for her is.

If she has bad knees, lowering the seat will make her bend them MORE.
