Trek 770 - aka Floyd 2.0
This weekend I managed to get my hands on a 1985 Trek 770 in almost perfect shape. I previously had the same year/model that I convinced cb400bill to sell me. I loved that bike but in a moment of weakness moved it on to another fellow. It’s paint was in rougher shape than this one but it’s new owner did repaint it.
Saw this one on Craigslist and ran over as soon as I could. Seller had bought it for his wife in 1985 and had the oem tubulars replaced with Mavic G40 clinchers upon purchase. His wife also wanted pink hoods so those are on there too. Other than that it’s bone stock down to the Alfredo Binda toe straps.
Incredibly lucky to find this one in such great shape. I asked his wife how many miles she think she rode it and she told me she rode it less than 12 times total. Tires still have whiskers on them. Been in their heated basement out of sunlight since 1990! And it’s my size!

Now that's nice! Now all you've got to do is put upright bars and some big ole platform pedals on it, and maybe convert it to 650B so you can run 42's.

I love it just the way it is. I have a purple '84 760 that I bought new and a greenish '84 770 frame and fork (yet to be built).
Sorry about the chopped picture. They're really nice riding bikes. Some call them twitchy, but I just call them quick handling. At speed they are very composed, yet will instantly change course when needed. All you have to do is think it, and it does it. Unfortunately, these days I don't have much speed left in me, to take advantage of such a bike, so I often ride one of my tourers. Or my Ironman. But if I was feeling fast, I'd take the 760. I wish I still had some cleated shoes, so I wouldn't have to force some spd pedals on it.

The previous pink Trek 770 I had came to me from cb400bill with the name 'Floyd' so this new one naturally will be known as Floyd 2.0

that's beautiful. I had a Trek around that year, I think it was a 560? It was purple and yellow.
