They are built out of bits from Chinese OEM suppliers that one of my riding buddies who went to Asia a lot on on business trips got for me at factory back doors. At the time I was contemplating building an ultra-light, and of course - very expensive wheelset, but was concerned that the low spoke counts I was leaning towards would not hold up to my daily riding. So when he told me he had connections to get me the parts to build these wheels that I could use as a "test-bed," for next to nothing...I was thrilled. Now its 4+ years later and they work and have held up so well (and I do not baby them at all) that I just keep riding them and my original plan is pretty much forgotten.

Went through this whole thread just now. Some really beautiful bikes within. There's a 70's Cinelli in my size for sale locally that's way out my price range, but this thread is pushing me into the buy it column. I know better than to ask any of you to help talk me out of buying it. Please feel free to post more bikes, folks.

I'm surprised this thread is only 6 pages.

My first real attempt at building up a vintage frame and fork. Made a couple mistakes like the anodized rims, but everything can be corrected. With its long wheelbase, it's one of the best riding bikes I have.

Here's mine.
Kinda like showing up for a Jeep rodeo in a rusty AMC Eagle, it does fit the description of the thread; but no one wants to see it.

Both of these have been seen in BF before, but what the heck; if people insist on digging up zombie threads, who am I to buck the trend? Both from the mid 1960s. The silver one has been repainted (by Ed Litton) and runs Campy 10sp triple. The blue one is in original patina condition and is Eroica- and Cino-compliant (at least when I run the old Campy pedals wit clips and Binda Extra straps) but hardly period correct. I've replaced the cool looking but unacceptably bad performing Universal 51 brakes in the photo with Universal 61s. They perform much better, they still look pretty cool, and they still have the right arm lengths for the shortish front/long rear reaches that, for some reason or other, Italians loved until the late 60s.

Silver rims and Gumwall tires are a hope.

Wow! I didn't know this thread existed! Some really awesome bikes here for sure. I really like those in the Laser Blue paint. Love that color.
Here's mine. 1989 Supercorsa, frame from Bicycle John's in Burbank, CA. Full Dura Ace. Mostly 7700, with a few 7400 pieces thrown in, like the seat post, stem, Brake levers and pedals. Most all bolts, and the rear axle, replaced with titanium versions. Ceramic ball bearings in both hubs. Compressionless cable housing. Some parts are 25th Anniversary versions, like the brakes, headset nut and RD. Alfredo Binda leather toe straps with Cinelli branding. Veloflex 700c x 23 tires, Vittoria latex tubes. The saddle has since been moved forward on the seat post since I took these photos--I need to take some new ones.
58 cm. Columbus SLX tubing. 21.5 pounds as she sits, including pedals.
Pully wheels are Omni Racer alloy. And no, they aren't noisy.
Famous Cinelli "spoiler" bottom bracket. They got a little heavy-handed with the spray paint, here.
Dura Ace hidden-bolt stem--probably the nicest quill stem ever made. Metal cap replaced with plastic version.

that painted by graphic…
why I never even made an inquiry.
what I thought silly was the later “cat. 2” finish was basically what they called OEM level.
so, make the client seem cheap that they did not go cat.1? Not everyone wants graphics buried under lots of clear.
but only the labels live on now.
