Congrats.

Have you just returned to riding after a number of years away?

Good to see that kickstand too, dunno how people live without them on a "utility" bike.

No, I've been riding 15-20 miles three times a week since I retired in 2002. Bicycle Inc. here in Texas was running a spring sale so I traded in my Trek 7.5 FX for this model because I wanted the hydraulic disc brakes.

Ahhhh okay.

If you were just returning, I would have said that you had chosen a pretty good bike to get back into cycling with.

As it is, you obviously realise you have a great bike.

An important but little recognized member of our bike family are the folding variety we travel with. Often found in the back of our travel van, this pair of Giants see lots of use.
Don't be fooled by their size, they are real bikes, capable of lots of miles. My 2012 Giant Halfway with its lefty fork and single chain stay is a real road bike (no longer in production). Shown in Florida last year.

Here's the latest build, 98% finished so i will post it (lazy, rainy Sunday).

Early 70s Zeus (i value original paint & decals), built mostly with Zeus components.
Yeah, i know it needs a white or red leather saddle to really pop and a couple of more vintage Zeus bits.
Maybe next month.

I like my 1980's Miele Columbus frameset with the Shimano Dura Ace AX groupset on it.

I retrieved this from my LBS today. I trusted them to do the 10 spd to 9 spd cassette switch and the tune on the drivetrain. And a final check on the 'tightness' of my build portion.

This is the last frameset build, every bike is complete.

Been offered Trek 1500 SL for £70.

If it fits you... buy it. I'd buy it just for some of the parts on it that I could use.

Nice bike at a good price. It will be aluminium stiff, though.
Can you get a tire bigger than 25mm on it? For a lighter rider that should be enough tire.

I bought that one 2 yrs. ago for my 70th birthday. I think it cost me $1700. It's 105 and the best shifting of all my bikes.

I bought mine from Velomine which is local to me. They had them on closeout and I think I payed slightly less for mine. Heck of a nice bike.

I added one this week, a 2015 Focus Raven MB I found on Craigslist. I've been losing weight for the past couple of months but seem to have leveled off, so I'm going to up the exercise game a bit and add MB on dirt trails in addition to the usual hybrid rides on paved trails.

So you toured on the folder or you took it with you in a car and did day rides? Were you traveling the whole year? I'd like to hear more.

We are full time rvers and the bike was used for day rides. We did spend about 5 months total in various parts of Florida which has great trails. I had a 3 month stretch I road everyday. This bike has pedaled in more than 25 states. My only complaint is the 20 inch wheels which give a harsh ride on chipseal and not stable on gravel. I recently purchased a 27.5x2.0 Raleigh Redux which has worked well on/off road but sits outside on a bike rack. Not happy about that. My Xootr Swift is an awesome ride 90% of the time.
